You get it's a French car right? It's not made here, it's made in France and sold all over Europe and a few other countries.
(Edit: Clearly you do, your profile photo is one! Your comment suggests they only sell them here though!).
It's sold much better in Europe than the previous model. The UK is a small market in comparison.
Ha ha, yes, as you've probably noticed, I've owned a 172 Cup, 182 Cup, 3 x 182 Trophy's & a 197 Cup. Before them, 2 x 106 Gti's, a 306 Rallye & a Saxo VTS. I absolutely adore French hot hatchbacks Judging by the adoration when i took the Cup & Trophy to France, so did the French!! They didn't get the Trophy for example, as at that point, the UK was the centre of the world for hot hatch fans ... it was a big market.(Edit: Clearly you do, your profile photo is one! Unfortunately, imho Renault lost the plot completely with the 200T in 2014. I quite fancied one, but the reviews were terrible, i couldn't get a test drive for love nor money and ended up getting an M135i instead.
I really want the Megane to be good, as tbh, when i get bored of the RS3, which i no doubt will, because of Renaults traditionally otherworldly depreciation levels, one would make a great buy for £8k in two years time

I had a 250 Cup for 6 years and loved the 220T when I test drove it... and ordered one the same day. I will say, it's not as fun at 10/10th as the Megane was, which is what Renault have always been very good at. It is more fun the rest of the time though. If Renault can just tip the balance a little bit with the Megane then it'll be a good 'un.
Interestingly I looked at the M135i and (at the time) S3 but decided they probably wouldn't have been as fun!

Personally, i hope they do a double clutch Auto version...could tempt me to get one for my next company car.
This could be a brilliant all rounder :-
5 doors - Great, kids can get in the back...
Double clutch auto box - Great, the M25 in rush hour is not a lot of fun in a manual
Big boot - Great, space for the luggage + spare set of wheels for trackdays
Turbo engine - Great, low Co2 & BIC
so a car practical enough for a family, convenient enough to commute in and hopefully talented enough to take on track...for £30K odd, sounds good to me.
ISnt that what a Golf r does? This could be a brilliant all rounder :-

Given how the normal models look, they might want to keep the covers on that thing - they really are BUTT ugly cars (sad-clown front lights, frown-eyes rear lights!)
Non sporty versions run the new Civic close in the 'which car would you least like to be seen dead in" competition
Of course the Type-R variant of the Civic takes that awful styling and adds an embarrasing amount of 'Ripspeed st' so I guess that formula will repeat?

Seen a few GT-Lines and I genuinely think they look pretty decent, certainly more 'funky' than the usual suspects.
I've got quite high hopes for this after what Renaultsport did with the previous Mk3 Meganes, needs to hit the ground running, Recaro's, Brembo's, Manual 'Box, LSD etc, etc...
I think if the Clio 220 Trophy was released at first it'd have been a different story IMO. Surly they can't make the same mistake with this one ?

" but then the latest (and more accommodating) Clio has opened Renault Sport up to even more customers"
Wow... what a very fake news way of saying they fcked up and sold less than a thousand in the uk. The current Clio Renaultsport is a total sales failure, completely misjudged the market. Hope they learned lessons for the Megane.
Um...pretty sure the current gen auto Clio RS has been a sales success, selling far more than any previous gen. This may be globally, but then Renault is a global company and there is more to the world than the UK.

The people who want that get Golfs, not RS Meganes. This could be a brilliant all rounder :-

Seen a few more 'leaked' pictures this morning.
