engine noise will just be the 'sound of slow' and may become an embarrassment.
It has already become among non-Neanderthals.Edited by Plug Life on Tuesday 4th April 11:34

You know something the rest of us don't?
Electric wirry things will not replace engines solely "because technical advancement", in the same way sportspeople are still paid to run, kick, chuck and hit things even though technology has found more efficient ways of replicating all of those acts as individual tasks.
F1 survives as it's somewhat unique insofar as the drama, politics and soap operaness of it all has become a part of the occasion but outside of that most people want something mostly red blooded, and the noise is a big chunk of the fun.
Things change. People used to get about on horses. THAT was red-blooded (literally). Elon Musk has stated that battery tech is advancing at a rate of around 30% per annum. I don't know if he means the pure theory side, or if he means what is offered commercially, but it would seem in a competitive environment, a team like Ferrari would make those two goalposts as close as they could.
does not matter if it moves on 3000% per day. Its still just an electric car. dull, lacking noise/drama/connection.But here's the real "pearler". The ICE cartel have had around a hundred years of concentrated development. Along comes Tesla, and they commercialise a car that can cut 10 second quarter miles off the showroom floor, for about £100k.
Now, you say EV's are dull, lacking noise / drama / connection? Hmm, that's a charge you could level at a lot of Audi's these days, isn't it? Not to mention many other brands.
I'm not so interested to examine your own car history, but I venture that you must have a daily driver with a warranty that can exceed a 10 second quarter mile then? Please, do tell.
Also why do you need something better to critique something else ?

The second part of your comment seems reasonable, but then again it comes back to expectations. If you think something is bad, fine, but lets hear what you think is better. Bear in mind, as I said, price and warranty. I'm all ears to hear what can outperform a brand new road car like a Tesla, with a warranty, at the price point. Genuinely waiting to hear.
By the way, I just red today that the F1 race in Melbourne had a whopping 5 overtakes registered for the ENTIRE race.

What a sthouse snoozefest.
I'm off to watch a range of dishwashers to see which one has the fastest spin cycle. That might actually be more exciting...

Totally agree. That 'mechanical horse' invented 100 years ago would whoop the arses of those real horses in the last grand national.
But guess what, real horse racing is still a massive sport, enjoyed by millions and employing thousands.
There's no logic to it is there? If you boil everything down to 'technological advancement' we should have logically junked horse riding and racing generations ago as being a relic of the stone ages. May as well add the olympics into that as well - a machine could be built to beat any person at any discipline.
But we're human beings and we like certain things. We like the emotions, the smells, the occasion, the drama, the links with our past.
And the sound of hoof on turf and noisy racing cars is but two of them!

Maybe it has something to do with that the horse is an animal. The ICE car and the EV are the same just the former has an archaic p.o.s. propulsion method. Of course, some Neanderthals could prefer it still. That 'mechanical horse' invented 100 years ago would whoop the arses of those real horses in the last grand national.
