Very bad news for racetrack owners. They are now going to be competing with street-circuits as well as other racetracks. For example, F1 or FE could end up in London rather than Silverstone. Wouldn't be a surprise to see some tracks go under in the next decade, as a result of this recent decision.

I doubt very much whether we will see many street circuits but the odd one would be great.Proximity and context is hugely underrated in motor sport and the Birmingham Superprix excelled in these respects . The sight - and THE SOUND - of a F3000 car screaming down a city street was unforgettable , and at one corner I was able to lean on the armco support and look into drivers eyes as they braked and downchanged less than 6 feet away . That was special .

What I would love to see is some longer hillclimb courses - and if we could attract the FIA European hilclimb crowd here then even better. I can think of plenty of roads where I'd love to see a Gould at full chat - where I live the A170 from Thirsk to Sutton Bank and beyond would be something else.....

As others have said it looks like it may be more likely to benefit the sprinters and hill climbers than circuit racers.

Could be a very useful for the continuation of sprinting and hill climbing as I believe a number venues are becoming more expensive (such as the circuits where track days and race meetings mean circuit hire costs are high) or facing noise restrictions, I used to sprint at North Weald 3 or 4 times a year but believe there is now restrictions in place, therefore fewer events. Lots of other sprints I used to do where on old MOD land which must be under pressure for redevelopment.

The loons have got hold of this now. Hysterically fervent opposition is growing, grasping at every conceivable malaise.

Petrification of domestic animals, harrasment of the elderly, likely death of walkers, death and desertion of wild animals, nest abandonment, death of bats, disrespect to road victims, damage to verges, etc.

The short film in the Facebook thread is particularly balanced.

FB page has been taken down. I'm not sure that high-speed road-racing on routes already known to have a safety problem is wise... time trials within the limits might be a better idea.

Anybody ever do the Tour of Mull ?
That used to be a bit special .
We might get a few sprint , hillclimb , Goodwood type things if we are lucky .
Other than that it will possibly be a street race for Formula E and not be aimed at the normal motorsport punter .
World Rallycross in Hyde Park has a certain appeal !

MSA motorsports would be nice, but has anyone considered the "trackday" market?
Imagine being able to drive, for example, the Evo triangle, without worrying about plod or oncoming traffic.
And I can't help but shiver at the thought of properly attacking Hardknott Pass...

I’ve done hard knot and rynose a couple of times on Road Rallies, with a few Code boards, passage controls and a small element of creativity in the timing it’s just flat out, Cant see the views at two o’clock in the morning though.

Have to say I was fairly sceptical about getting genuine closed road events on the mainland, but I’m coming around to the view that it will happen. There are few clubs ( apart from Chelmsford) looking seriously at it at various scales.

Mull could be back on this year it seems, Pawnbroom will know.

This will be for EV racing only I suspect. Any fossil fueled activities will be sat on.
