Awesome piece of kit, I have a weak spot for Grand Cherokee anyway, this one just looks brilliant!

I suppose it's because, like the RR-SVR, it make no apologies for its lack of green credentials. The SQ7 brochure will be full of environmental huff about fuel saving etc

I guess the usual angry spacs feel less threatened by the likelihood of a woman daring to drive one of these or feel it's less possible for someone to be 'looking down on them' in a blue collar Jeep product. The diesel haters can't dive in either. So I guess that just leaves the idiots who froth about handling. Maybe they'll appear later in the day when they've properly recovered from spending the weekend pulling 5 Gs at the roundabout near Lidl?

My reading of that thread was most people had issues with it being diesel - many PHers say they hate diesel but there were also concerns about the emission system's complexity.

I like it, mostly because of its shameless lunacy..
For me these days, Audi and it's ilk do seem to take themselves rather seriously where-as this looks like the Jeep designers locked the accountants in a cupboard and made an almost entirely pointless SUV... It would probably bankrupt me but I love it.. biggrin

I think its because we are just bored with the german stuff. Thats why a car like this appeals.

This just appeals to the kid in me.

Although I have always wanted the grand cherokee - esp the srt8 version. But this is on another level.

Hate to say it - thank you america!

Well I have a SRT8 Red vapor and there is nothing plastic about the inside at all. Absolute luxury to drive, drive from Switzerland to UK regularly. Consumption very good on long journeys. I'm looking forward to this, not sure the boss will let me have one frown

Neither car has any real, good, rational, reason to exist in the form it does.
The Audi weasels (and diesels) about how it's really OK, actually frown
This car has one massive middle finger raised wink

I agree! I love the idea of this and it really appeals to my inner child smile
I have a 2016 GC Overland and the interior is in no way as bad as many make out. Lots of leather and gadgets, not as luxurious as the Germans offerings but a vast improvement over the old model. It's also something different and pretty rare on the roads which I like.

In the original 2006 SRT8 (3rd gen GC) had that horrible plastic interior, which felt like a cheap mouse/keyboard, there was no stitched leather, like now.

Brilliant. Slow to 60mph, collosal fuel consumption, so no sport, no utility. Good for peeps who like big stuff.

I know you're just trolling but did you actually bother to read the article.... this is a nearly 2 tonne car that gets to 60 in 3.5 seconds... by what definition is that slow?

I live in the US and think these things are stunning packaging, warranty and value! However, its largely pointless. I love it for being pointless, but the pursuit of ever more power is like the pursuit of 250+ MPH top speeds - gloriously pointless, needless and most likely never going to be fully used.

But, I have to say, there is nothing better than the joy of mechanically using 100% of what you have access too - grip, power, handling or fun. While it will be gloriously fun, you most likely won't be able to use the full power and the overall package will be so above what you can use on the road that its going to feel numb. Love it, but I can't help thinking that a great handling smaller, lighter and lower power car would be more fun. And yes, you can cast me out for being 'non-PH'....

;-)
