Wow. Hadn't seen that until now. That is truly hideous. Looks like it has a touch of the SsangYong Rodius to that back end. And that offset plate looks bad. The rear lights are too small.

Saw one of these in black at the JLR dealer over the weekend - whilst in the jag half of the dealership...

Really poor, looks only a mother could love IMHO.. but if you assume that as we're all talking about it - it can't be all bad maybe thats their idea to grow brand awareness?

It's either that or they are running out of ways to differentiate the different models in the range - so this one got the Ugly stick.

Was sat behind one for a good amount of time today, couldnt decide if I liked it or not, its certainly huge, but in a van like fashion rather than low and wide so seems less bullish.

I think its a grower, ahead of its time slightly. It was also in a sexy orange rather than a bland black or grey.

In the left lane of this two lane standing traffic was a porsche 911 gts so that only made the thing more taller.

Saw one on the motorway a few days ago. It is rare that a car has design features that make me try and identify it, but this one did. Others in this class of car: Rodius and the bug-eyed Granada. Hideous from the back, looks wrong and cheap.

These Ford thingy's from the US are much nicer IMHO

Any commonality between the 2?

Did look rather Korean, made me wonder why they had replaced the current model.

Because it was 13 years old, perhaps?

But it isn't as though it looks dated, unlike the Evoque.

there is something about that huge rear quarter panel that is screaming minivan to me, cant find an exact picture of the car in my head, here is something close

It looks like the rear of a Ford Kuga and a Ford Galaxy have been merged.

According to Wikipedia: "The Explorer's chief design engineer is Jim Holland, who was also a chief design engineer for Land Rover."

Having seen some more of these, there is only one colour that the rest end isn't ridiculously hideous, and that is black. Anything lighter, yuck, fell out of the ugly tree etc.

Is it me or do they also look too tall and thin from the back? Sort of like looking at a scaled-down high cube Transit

The rear quarter panel is straight from the last model Toyota Fortuner. The entire rear end is hideous, it’s like an asymmetrical Ford Ecosport

I’m probably in the minority but I really like the looks of the new Discovery, actually it’s my favourite out of the LR models. I like odd looking cars though smile I think it will grow on people.

That’s a lot better. Is there anything they can do with the rest of it? FWIW I like the front, but everything aft of the rear doors is horrible. Any car with a wide, body colour and canted forward C pillar never looks right to me.
