RE: Litchfield GT-R LM20: Review

Interesting chat about the term rotor.
I have alloy bells and rotors. I believe that is the correct term for the break down of the components of two part discs, be they floating or fixed. Are we saying even that is an Americanism and that a two piece brake disc is made up of an alloy bell and a "disc" rather than a rotor?

What a nickpicking forum response, blimey.
It's a great car by the looks of it, glad it was covered and seems more fitting for our roads.
I would be interested Dan to know why they stopped going from Volks wheels to something non descript? Cost? I think the Volks speak "in the know" more than something that looks more pretty.

I owned a 650bhp GTR and whilst the performance was just savage it became a boring /risky car to own/drive as intended.
Its still too big, too plasticky and too heavy to be a real fun car
Sure, itll blow pretty much everything else on the road away but can anyone get away with that as a long term ownership prospect...
6 months and far too many run ins with the law and I was done with it.
Replaced with an R8 v10...far more fun in every way!

Growing up as part of the Playstation generation, playing the likes of Gran Turismo and Forza as a yout, I used to love taking the already fantastic Skyline and GTR cars and making them absolutely potty, adding every conceivable aftermarket option to them. Bored engines, larger twin turbo chargers, racing exhaust systems, super wide Volk's on racing slicks, larger injectors and intercooler, racing cams and so forth.
That's why I've loved Litchfield's work on these GTR's ever since I discovered them a few years ago. I feel like are living out my GTR tuning dream and share my childish enthusiasm for taking a staggering car from stock to the next level

Ah, halcyon days, I remember spanking an R34 up over 1000bhp in GT2, then struggling to get it to stop or handle properly with all that power. That's why I've loved Litchfield's work on these GTR's ever since I discovered them a few years ago. I have owned my SVM 600bhp GTR for about 30 months now, while I agree you need to be careful I still have a clean licence. Its still too big, too plasticky and too heavy to be a real fun car

I reckon it was about a year before I really knew how to drive it properly around country roads.... obviously straight line speed was simply point and go, watching other disappear in rear view mirror.
I do not think it poorly built or 'plasticky'.. but what do I know speaking as someone who is a panel beater by trade with 40 years experience

No doubt a well executed speed machine.
Couldn't think of a less desirable car in this price bracket for me. Strokes n folks n all that
mmm going by your user name guess you like TVRs?Couldn't think of a less desirable car in this price bracket for me. Strokes n folks n all that
I am on my 3rd TVR now, a Cebera 4.2, yes raw power but simply a car that will always have faults, is unreliable and wants to kill you, if that floats your boat then fine. Lovely looking car in silver with bergundy red leather, but just to many issues, guess that's why they say the TVR comes as a kit car that's built then dismantles as you drive it, difficult putting up with that when you own a reliable faster car like the GTR.
I was thinking of running the TVR for a couple of months, selling my GTR and talking the wife into me buying a GT-R LM20

Surely this just show lack of right foot control if you have that many run in with the Police? Its still too big, too plasticky and too heavy to be a real fun car

Also replacing with a V10 R8 of similar speed will cause you the same issues?
I'm also an owner of a GTR with similar modifications and 650BHP however I haven't once had any "run ins" with the law in two years!

It's the same with all cars north of 250bhp/tonne - trackdays are your friend. Its still too big, too plasticky and too heavy to be a real fun car

While I agree with the PS3 interior, weight and looks 'only you mother would love' points against the Nissan, hassling it along A or B roads was a real hoot and one of the few cars you could have all the settings in race mode without being bounced off into the nearest hedge.
The LM20 looks super hot - well played Litchfield!
