I love the challenger, I had an original one in the 80's, and my brother had a 2010 model for a year or so.
Sadly I have heard that the modern cars have serious corrosion issues due to the factory filling the rocker panels/sills with foam. This fantastic idea holds moisture and causes horrific rust out. Someone working for Dodge needs a good kicking for that idea.
I think I will just keep my Monaro for another 10 years.

I am seeing more and more Teslas around Sevenoaks, Kent

I's rather see more and more of these around Sevenoaks, Kent.

I fear they are too busy doing middle aged Swingers parties though.

PS Can you buy electronic rat poison for electric cars from Homebase?
It pleases me that Dodge make something this bonkers but I don't really have a problem with Teslas. The latest Tesla with do a 10.8 quarter mile and will do 0-60 in 2.3. Doesn't require fitting push bike tyres on the front either.

Tesla does not have that fabulous V8 soundtrack though.

You just have to admire a company that has the balls to build this.

We said the same of MG Rover doing the V8 75/ZT and the X-Power SV... turned out it was a "let's piss what little money we have left up the wall and go out in a blaze of glory" attempt. FCA's finances are also in a pretty parlous state...

Not that I don't applaud nonsense like this, but I have a feeling FCA are going to go spectacularly bust quite soon.

It has been banned by the National Hot Rod Association for being too fast for the drag strip...
Wait, so it's a car built specifically for the drag strip that is banned from the majority of drag strips in the states?
It is, and for that very reason, it is massively positive marketing.

"Too fast for the drag strip - the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon"
Ugh, this marketing piece is annoying. It hasn't been banned from any strip at all. Though it is capable of making a pass that would put you into a bracket that requires more safety gear, as dictated by NHRA rules.

That is to say, if you make a sub 10 second pass, you'll be turfed off unless you have a cage.

So yes, you'll get kicked from that track, on that night, if you hit a perfect launch, on a perfect track, at the perfect temperature, on the right tyres etc etc etc. but 99/100 times you'll be running mid/high 10s if you get it 9/10 of the way right. Still bloody fast, but not gonna get you kicked off the strip.

Cynical? Me? Not on your life. (I still want one)

Is it road legal? The staggered tyres on the front in the first pic look like they can't handle turning.
In the first pic it has the optional 'skinny' tyres as part of the Demon crate. They will have 315 section road-legal drag tyres fitted to them normally.

What is the benefit of those skinnier front tyres, out of interest?

It' just amazing.

I can't think of anything I'd rather go out and buy. If I ever buy a truly whacky car it will be one of these (or more likely a Hellcat).

The SV had shoddy build quality I remember the massive gap between the doors and rear quarter.

Nobody bought them.

Challengers are everywhere, all trim levels are being sold, I see a hellcat every couple of days.

Though brutal stuff appeals, I fear its a one trick pony - a fantastic trick at that, but you are going to have to live with it and I think it would eventually drive me insane.
I think you've missed the point old chap. It's not anywhere near supposed to be cross shopped with a fast yet practical daily driver like a CTS-V.

This is going to be bought by people who already have one of those, and several other vehicles in their fleet to suit their needs.

you can buy them RHD (not the demon) but the SRT Hellcat in Australia, couple of companies bring them in and convert them backed with warranty not cheap due to local labour costs and taxes.

would there be a market to ship RHD from here the UK?

I wonder if this one would fare better on the strip against that Tesla SUV than the 700HP version :P

Heavy Metal thunder and all that; but folk who don't go to drag strip often may be surprised to learn there's no shortage of road legal (just ) cars which can do this sort of time- or quicker .
