RE: Porsche 911 GT2 RS spy pics
Discussion
I love the big wing on my 991RS
I am hoping for a GT2RS allocation, but none of the dealers know what they are getting yet, or when, never mind that the car hasn't officially been announced. So they can't yet sit down with the thankless task of working out who will get one. No matter what anybody says about they have locked in a car two years ago, because they haven't.
Porsche are on it at the moment, making hugely capable and desirable cars, and unfortunately that means there will be the usual overs market madness and scramble. It will be nice if one day normality returns to the world and these cars are only of interest to people who want them for the driving. It may be a while before that ever happens again, I suspect.
As for a fast car with a big wing being pointless on the road. Well, sure, just like a 400bhp Audi is pointless, why pick on a car with a big wing or a paint job. We would all be driving around in 1 litre Eco boxes in the world of utility and teeth gnashing which some people on this thread seem to want, for perhaps obvious reasons.
Give me a nice sunny day, these cars are a joy whether at 30 mph or other speeds (legally and responsibly, of course). It is how they make you feel as much as how fast they go. I thought PH was a place for petrolheads?

Hopefully we'll finally meet at a trackday this year I am hoping for a GT2RS allocation, but none of the dealers know what they are getting yet, or when, never mind that the car hasn't officially been announced. 400, or even 4,000 bhp can be used perfectly fine. Your horsepower example is not relevant.I am hoping for a GT2RS allocation, but none of the dealers know what they are getting yet, or when, never mind that the car hasn't officially been announced. On the ROAD, please feel free to explain how the aerodynamics work for typical british roads. Or are you one of those cock jockeys who turns up to a car park wearing driving gloves and racing overalls?

I know that's a development mule, but to my eyes it looks gash. I'm a massive fan of earlier incarnations but this does nothing for me. If I had the money (I don't) I'd be buying a 993 GT2 instead. I could then use the change to buy some spare underwear for the inevitable 'moments' that car provides.

Sorry, can't be arsed to get into a discussion with you. Said my piece. Off to drive something with a wing but first I need to dig out my racing overalls. That prompted me to look at your garage. Excellent taste sir. I long for a 288 GTO, and was lucky enough a few years ago to see a 288 GTO Evoluzione in the flesh. That had a wing too I recall...Rawwr said:

These limited editions are BS. I don't see why they don't just build as many as are ordered. Why is porsche in the business of making speculators money rather than themselves? Making a handful of collectors happy seems particularly short termist when it involves locking out new customers.
It's very much in Porsche's interests to keep resale values high. See also: PCPHow is it in Porsches interests to keep residuals high on cars when they aren't the ones profiting!
Take 911R What was it ? £140K ish at launch. The flippers were off loading them at one point up to £400k!
If Porsche had been sensible, price it at £200K. And make twice as many 2000 instead of 991. They'd sell them, because it's a good car. The flippers would be cut out by the numbers being made. And it would make them the company the most money.
But instead they keep making great cars in miniscule numbers and wondering why the Cayenne is their biggest seller...

Thanks for making my point for me. The vast majority of these cars won't be enjoyed by anyone. That's why it's a pointless endeavour.
Art, music, theatre etc.. can be enjoyed by anyone. Which is why it isn't.
If you can't understand that then I can't really help you.
I think being a development engineer for Porsche Renn sport projects must be simultaneously the best and worst job in the world. On the one hand you get to push the boundaries of what is possible, but on the other you know no one is actually going to know what you've achieved.
Your point is invalid because not all art can be enjoyed be everyone. That fact still doesn't make its existence invalid. If you can't understand that then I really can't help you...Art, music, theatre etc.. can be enjoyed by anyone. Which is why it isn't.

It's great, but pointless. The original statement about a dog turd was just to illustrate that it doesn't matter what they make people will lap it up.
Hope that clarifies things. I won't be explaining any further for you.

Anyone else care to admit they'd feel a bit of self conscious Bell-End driving on the public road in a car with a pic-nic table on the back?
Nope, not really. Been planning for this since 2011 and staring at my "GTII ART" number plate purchase sat above my desk, good motivation to work hard to pay for the car itself.
Handed in my LOI in 2012 and deposit down last year, badgering my local dealer monthly, until they finally agreed I was first in the queue. Now the wait may be over fairly soon. Hoping for an official announcement and perhaps unveiling at Goodwood in June.
Meanwhile... I had this to play with, but it's now gone in anticipation for the GT2.
Love... "Fat bottomed girls", I mean rear wings.

Am I the only one that thinks it looks no different to a gt3rs? Except for the silly wing of course.
For me it's all about the fantastic turbo engine - obviously some people will prefer the naturally aspirated engined GT or R cars.Best chance to drive one for me will maybe be on the PE days ( if it's like the 997 version )
