Surprised we've not had one of these yet... (The BMW Z3 Coupe)
It already has been mentioned. Keep up at the back! LotusOmega375D said:

Perhaps I'll start another one: "Beautiful-looking coupes" and we'll end up with all the same cars!
I wondered the same. I'm starting to think that the entire concept of a coupe is a flawed one, or one that has become outdated, or out of fashion or something.Perhaps I'll start another one: "Beautiful-looking coupes" and we'll end up with all the same cars!
Has desirability of coupes been diminished by superfast estates and Golf Rs? Is that how we do it these days? Or do we no longer need to decrease practicality to sell a sporting image, when simple styling and marketing (M-Sport, AMG-Line, S-Line, R-Line) will do the trick instead, to a wider audience?
Hmmm. I'll think about that while I'm browsing Evoras in the classifieds...

Can't agree. The basic model is dumpy and ill-proportioned. The M version just exaggerates the flaws (though the performance compensates)janesmith1950 said:
If only other manufacturers realised that chucking some stainless manifolds on any old bucket of an engine would deliver it revered status.
The basic V6 busso engine has a fair degree of pedigree, as a road car engine (200+ bhp, 7k rpm, great noise, decent mpg and longevity). Also has chrome plated intake pipes, make up on a pretty girl.Agree you can't sprinkle glitter on dog st and call it a donut
or put lipstick on a pig

Not necessarily, you may get new ones that haven't been mentioned yet like the BMW Z4 coupé, Alfa GTV, Pontiac Solstice etcPerhaps I'll start another one: "Beautiful-looking coupes" and we'll end up with all the same cars!

I'm sure they're great to drive, but it still looks like a noddy car to meBut then, I don't really consider it a Coupé. If we're honest, it's a 2 door Saloon, and to me, all the better for it. Means, rather than your typical Coupe, you can still fit people and stuff in it

Maybe we've finally realized that coupés crafted from saloons really don't make any sense. Why pay a whole lot more for 2 fewer doors and less rear space, when everything else is the same? It's not a logical decision, is it?Has desirability of coupes been diminished by superfast estates and Golf Rs? Is that how we do it these days? NB: good luck with the Evora hunt

That's it. Nail on head. It's the ones that weren't designed as coupes from the start that are so wrong.(I'm not really buying an Evora. I was just thinking of a counter example to my own argument, but you've explained why Evora's don't count... they're not saloon or hatch based!)

I have a huge soft sport for that, i dont quite now why, but i'd totally drive oneWhoever within Suzuki signed that off was on some strong meds!
The steering seemed like a suggestion rather than a command, it was cramped, impractical, gutless, the boot lid was incapable of staying open and itmade you feel like a right berk. I saw it pottering around the city last week. I can't believe it hasn't been crushed.
