RE: BMW M4 CS - official
Discussion
An E46 M3 was what, c.£40k tops brand new in 2005? Accounting for inflation that's nearly £55k now which is guess is about right for the 'standard' M3 but asking a £30k premium over that is absolutely nuts.
I still struggle to get my head around current new car prices, but that is prob a reflection of stagnant salaries within my industry and the structure in which new cars are financed these days. I consider myself a full-on car and bike nut, but in no way could i possibly consider chucking £800 a month to rent a new M3.
Where do i hand in my Pistonhead card?

A BMW M3 for £90k, even in CS format, is over-priced.
If it's over-priced then they won't sell any surely?I suspect they'll sell quite a few meaning there's quite a few richer people than us around!!!
Agree with the majority of comments on here that BMW has created another collectors piece, and the majority of them will languish in collections or will be bought as investments & offered an at even higher price in the future.
Question though - what colour is 'Lime Rock Grey'? I put 'M4 Lime Rock Grey' into Google Images, and all I see are orange cars!
Anyhow, some additional pictures from the press release that didn't make this article:

I really like the fact that BMW and other manufacturers now are continuously trying to better their existing cars/platforms.
The competition package apparently really improved the standard M4 from twitchy and unpredictable into a pretty engaging drivers car. If this CS improves upon that still it stands to be a great car.
Yes it may be expensive but there are so many cars that were nearly great but never quite there. 'If only BMW had done this.... If only Lexus has given it this etc...'. Hopefully this will make the M4 that car, and a second hand bargain in years to come.

I think the M4 is a pretty decent car, I quite enjoyed the short time I spent in one and can completely see why the owner is so happy with hers. At no point did it make me want it though. And at 90K I definitely wouldn't even look at it especially when there are cars like the LM-20 to have for which would be basically the same price once you've added a few extras to the BMW.
It looks great however I echo the sentiments in this thread already about the price, it's just too high - this coming from someone who can just about "get" the GTS in terms of its price. At £90k, it's battling with some very serious machinery and it would have seemed sensible keeping it towards the "poorer" end of the 911 spectrum, maybe £70k?
It'll be interesting to see how the price of the thing holds when these begin to hit the used/flipped market. I can foresee many who hope to make a quick buck being burnt.

That car looks the nuts. I would happily have one and am in the mood for a change.
But at £90k - no chance - I would feel like a mug paying that much for an M4. You can spec a 991 GTS for under £100k and that is money well spent.
I know we are all saying the same thing so hopefully the more that do, BMW might listen. Great car but the price is completely wrong!
Surely when they swap parts over on cars, there has to be a saving on the value of the unused parts? They can't take the base price (of a completed car) and then just add on the cost of the bits that are new. Looking at this simply (which I totally appreciate I am but trying to make a point), do they sell all the old bits (wheels, tyres, bumpers etc etc) on Ebay or chuck them in the bin? Because that makes this more than £31k more of parts which just can't be right. Sort it out BMW!! This price is not justifiable*

- except again I know to all the people with more money than sense that they are pitching this at and so they can price it at whatever level they like.
