Well this was my experience of owning one which was enough for me never to buy another, and believe me you have no idea of the grief it caused. Maybe I was unlucky, but that's what Ford sold me at the time. It was LHD as I could not get a RHD at the time, didn't mind that much though.
It does sound like you got a lemon.

I know such experiences can, quite obviously put you off. But you really shouldn't let it prevent you considering one in the future.

As said, they simply wouldn't sell the number they do and have the following they do, if they all had major issues at 1000 miles. Or even at 50,000 miles.

I did over 1800 miles in a 2.3T Turbo last year that has I think 12,000 miles on the clock. It was faultless and everything worked. Not a rattle or a creek either.

2011 5.0 V8 GT 412bhp (Ti-VCT) bought from new, and managed to do a total of 1200 miles. Spent more time at the dealers than on my drive.
So 6 years ago, an unofficial import and with the only thing in common with the current generation being the pony on the front grill..roflrofl

Give it up.

You had a bad experience, as a one-off, with a completely different car, yet somehow think this qualifies you to pass comment on the current generation? scratchchin

It's far from what he's saying and you know it.

I'm sure the new models are wonderful and perfect in every way as you'd like me to believe. I just would never consider another one sadly, mainly due to Ford's terrible past customer service as mentioned.
If only you knew... rofl

I'd be talking about Audi's than this st.

Some people like Mustang's. Some people don't.

The world still turns...

So, you are suggesting that buying a 2011 unregistered LHD import from a Ford dealer under Ford full warranty isn't a 'real' Mustang then compared to a 2017 model, and therefore I deserved it plus it's really funny? blimey, really glad I never joined the owners club as well then if that's the snobbish and childish attitude of owners.
No... I'm suggesting your comments have little or nothing to do with the current generation Mustang, and the subject of this thread, and you only posted because you have a beef about a completely different car and a bad dealer....well whoop de do....
Shall I come over to the VW forum and join a thread about the R32 and regale a tale of how my 1989 VW golf Gti was the worst car I've ever owned....smile

I've just been driving a 650hp Tickford supercharged Mustang. Really impressive but so traction limited off the mark to 60mph or so that it's only fractionally quicker than the NA car.

Mildly tuned you say? 365HP power increase with simple bolt-ons. I wonder how long it would last as "the major weak point in the S550 as it stands are the powdered connecting rods, followed by the hypereutectic pistons." Afterall, it's not built for boost.

For comparison, my GM LSA makes the same power but with a number of internal modifications inc ARP bolts, forged rods/pistons etc.
A regular coyote can handle 600whp, before drivetrain losses that could be anywhere from. 750-800bhp. By that point traction is a more of an issue than the engine grenading.

It's not like you're trying to find parts for some obscure engine, parts are available if a mustang owner wants shock and awe.

Also the road runner engine (the coyote on the s197 boss did have forged conrods) parts are freely available, not to mention the aluminator coyote is also available for purchase, however the stock motor is more than enough for 99 % of the public.

I'd say for turbos it would be needed but a large capacity Whipple, Vmp or procharger is fine stock conrods.

You're more likely to sheer or break halfshafts with the IRS. The solid rear axle was way more stronger and better for high torque applications.

The stock halfshafts are hollow to reduce weight in making them weaker. The s550 Cobra jet was upgraded to the solid rear axle.

Ford performance sell uprated halfshafts but there a lot.

Traction off the line with lots of power and lots of torque will always be an issue. Obviously mid or read engine cars have an advantage. But I suspect the Mustang is no better or worse than most other front engine/rwd cars of similar power/weight.

Only thing you can really do is opt for more grippy tyres.

In the US people run DR's, drag radials. These are a super soft tyre, a bit like a circuit tyre, but more aimed at getting off the line, so likely a softer sidewall.

Going bigger profile helps too. But in the UK such tyres are either hard to come by, technically illegal or just not suitable for our temperate climate.

The problem is, you're then left with a C6 RS6, which is (dynamically) an understeery, heavy beast with virtually no character. The C7 RS6 (which I had) is miles better all-round but still boring, even with an MRC tune. I'd take the mustang or any American V8 any day. Far more interesting and you don't really need to mod to 800hp. Lots more options for milder supercharged mods which retain driveability.
Exactly.....my Mustang is currently sitting at 450bhp, with just a few mods, and it's great fun.

Just been to Halfords to get some oil for the mowers and quad, came out to find a load of people hovering around the car and taking photos, then the inquisition starts hehe how fast? How much. Etc....
Never had a car that got so much positive vibe from strangers...

That's spot on. Stripe and wheel combo is perfect.
ZX10R NIN commented on the M4CS being a different market, don't be so sure.
I went into the local Ford dealer early last year armed with a pocketful of cash and was told the waiting list was what it was, no way around it.
Took my cash and went and bought a new M3 (required a bit of BMW finance to make up the difference in price).
I'd say I was a typical customer for either. Four seats and plenty of power, only thing separating them is a little bit of man maths.

Hmm, 4 pages of comments, plus the original "article", and you know what? Not one word about its actual performance.

Plenty of pub talk bragging rights bullst, but not a word about any performance metric yet. What can this thing actually DO besides presumably fry tyres?

I would love to know if put up against either another 800 bhp car, or another new car in the same budget (or even another second hand car at that budget, although that's a little unfair).

Hell, even in isolation, I'd like to know what it can do...

That body kit is too much for me on CS800, dare I say it but looks a little tacky.

Had a good drive in mine this weekend, even now that these things are more popular I still had an Audi following me with passengers with their camera phones out, of course I gave them a nice soundtrack, driving past kids on bikes asking for a rev. The car gets positive attention wherever it goes and lots of question such as 0-60, top speed and how much. biggrin

Some pictures I took this weekend:

Very happy with where I have got mine, wanted to keep it looking like a car which came out the factory but with added aggression. smile
