Quite a rare sight in Cardiff, couldn't resist parking my saloon next to this cab earlier...

Miss having an E30 though.

Another happy owner here, even after spending around £8k buying and sorting my 328 coupe. Drives very well and doesn't feel over 20 years old. Then again, the newest car I've owned was 2004😃

Mine was a Sport so had better suspension setup anyway, also was a 2000 plate and fresh bushes etc - the car I replaced it with was good but I did really feel the handling difference. Like you say though it's not so much better that it renders the performance advantages of the 2.8 pointless. But versus the 2.0 6pot the M44 is definitely winning.

Great shed, but then I may be slightly biased, except mines the 328i bow

That looks very smart
Thanks - all completely original, and just had the wheels refurbished with a proper diamond-cut :-)
125k will full history and a folder full of old bills and receipts.
Don't think I'll ever sell it.

I think I've almost owned the full range.
A 316, 318is, 325i and 3 328s. I Currently have an e36 m3 sat doing nothing. So just a 320 and 323 to go biggrin

This one I miss the most, a 328 sport auto. They are such a great car, really relaxing and comfy, effortless to drive. There's no better way to chew the miles. I sold this to buy the black 328 convertible but it was manual and I really missed the auto box. I'd have it back in a heartbeat!

99% of IS200 Sport's are total dogs, especially at that money. No way on earth will you even a half decent one for 1k, even 2k they all are total scrap

I went to look at some recently for a friend in the 2 to 3k region, all described ‘as new’ or driving perfect’ etc – but all were utter dogs good only for breaking!

Only good one worth buying was nearly 4k. And at that money not worth it, better RWD 6 Cylinder cars with much more power and much better mpg. IS200s are very sore on fuel for the performance. An E36 M3 has better mpg for example

4K you say scratchchin

Oh yes, I've seen that article posted on here before, very interesting stuff. Those cars must be incredibly rare now. I wonder how people's perception of the compacts would differ if BMW had brought the M3 version to market?

My problem with the Compact is that the shape is so jarringly mismatched. You have the long low nose with a high dumpy backside rivalling that of Mrs Shed.

Looks like my 323iSE in avus blue. I bought it at 6 months old in 1999 and still have it now. In fact it's my main daily driver.

I thought it'd be worth nothing in cash although it's worth loads to me. Completely bog standard apart from an aftermarket radio.

I love it.

I always quite liked it. Definitely not as pretty as the coupe, a bit frumpy in standard trim with 15" wheels. However the 'Sport' version with the M sport skirts and bumpers on the 16" Borbets I thought looked quite stylish - and when compared to its contemporaries wasn't any worse looking than the Golves and Astrae it was competing with. I always thought that in a world where cars were dogs, the E36 Compact would be a Staffie.

Even the M42 engine, fitted in both E30 and early E36, was chain driven.

Bitterly regret getting rid of my E36 late last year.

Was a very stupid thing to do.

New owner will not return my calls as I want it back. One day I will get it back.
My old 318 has apparently been parked up in an industrial unit in Stoke on Trent for getting on for 12 months.

I want it back.

However I have lost the phone number of the guy who bought it & subsequently crashed it.

Anyone know how I can find out, legally, the current keepers address???

And yes I know that a) I should not have sold the car & b) I should have kept the contact number.

Stupid on both counts.

Ask the DVLA.

Failing that ask your own phone provider for an itemised bill of the month that you sold the car. Assuming you know the date of the transfer you should be able to find his number.

DVLA will not assist citing the Data Protection Act (which I sort of understand).

Changed phone providers recently & old provider is unwilling to provide phone bills to an ex customer.

So now what do I do? Really want the car - I have been sent photos today & have already got a quote for the repair work (assuming there are no hidden surprises).

Apply for the V5 for it. See if something useful happens next?

It’s probably worth a lot more than you think now.

Just wondering where my old BMW 318is’ are…sold both for a grand each and they’re worth a lot more now. Ah well.

Anyone know how much love there is for these right now? Mine needs about £10k spending to get it mint.

1999 T
70k miles
Sport pack
Rear spoiler
Techno Violet
Black full leather
OBC
Rear head rests

I don't mind if it's worth less than than I've spent when it's done but I'd be interested to know if I'm ever likely to get my money back.

Looks like it was scrapped or, more likely, left too rot.

MOT expired October 2018.

Having crashed my own car a couple of weeks ago I need a new car.

Been looking at E36’s. They are not cheap now which is annoying.
