I've been putting off a job on my girlfriend's car for weeks and weeks. She's cornered me in to 'having a look at it' on Wednesday at last. It's only a slightly squeaky arb bush or something minor but apparently it's really annoying her... I'll jack the car up, find the source of the squeak and then make noises about her having to buy a new part or two. That should delay the fix by another week or two smile

Just accept you are wrong and it's your fault, but her a gift as an apology. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong, for the sake of peace and harmony in the house, accept you are wrong, just try and avoid actually admitting it, as it may not sound sincere!

Great responses! I would have taken more time over it but she was sort of helping passing me tools from the box in my idea of getting her involved. So there was no hiding my surprise when the window started working for example.

She later told me how four blokes at one garage had attempted to fix it but couldnt. (The pass window works - the switches are interchangeable - so I don't know why they didn't swap them as you'd want driver side working...)

Anyway she is ultimately very grateful and acknowledged that I took on the work without her asking as such just mentioning it in ear shot as they do! But I am still miffed with myself as to why I didn't fix it earlier!
