"In celebration of his centenary, Barry ordered an LS600h L in metallic silver with cream leather interior."
Did they not have an off bronze/metallic beige option?
Mines beige, beige leather too please. Walnut on the dashboard would be nice too. Make sure it's got parking sensors (front and rear). Thanks.Did they not have an off bronze/metallic beige option?
Imagine if he was a Porsche owner who had bought 25 cars over the years and wanted the new 991 911GT3 .2
"I'm sorry Barry, might have to change the name from Barry High to Barry Low. Computer says No... "
I do think they could have thrown in a Yaris for free for his grandkids or such ....

His wife doesn't fear him running off with a younger model in his twilight years. She said "he has had 24 Lexus' and he still isn't bored of them".
I had one and it bored me to tears.
A mate has a GS450H which goes like a stabbed rat - 0-60 in under 6 seconds with 350 ish BHP. I had one and it bored me to tears.
Handles like a blancmange though.

couple of cheap stickers gets them free national publicity....Lexus UK have an excellent advertising department...
And looking at one of the pics in the original article, it is a pity Lexus could not even manage to stick the cheap sticker on straight !Barry doesn't look too pleased either.
His leccy probably pealed them off before he even left the dealership.
Did PH pick the story up from a Lexus press release by any chance ?

I have a GS430 (silver badges) and for what it is it handles very well and brakes are excellent. Handles like a blancmange though.
My other car is an IS-F, anyone who thinks Lexus only make boring cars for their stereotypical market would probably come to a different opinion if they took a drive in one.

Having looked at it again, if it were me, I'd have those silly badges and coach-lines removed.
Similar in concept to the early Lexus cars with gold badges - it's all a bit 'The only way is Essex' - owners with tans, whitened teeth, white trousers, Hawaiian shirts open to the navel with chest hair and medallions and chunky gold bracelets. And that's just the women.
I've never seen the essex stereotype drive around in a gold-badged car. if anything it's always been people from a black/african or asian background driving them.Similar in concept to the early Lexus cars with gold badges - it's all a bit 'The only way is Essex' - owners with tans, whitened teeth, white trousers, Hawaiian shirts open to the navel with chest hair and medallions and chunky gold bracelets. True, these cars generally appeal to older people but for some reason I really want to add a £5-10k Lexus LS430, LS460 or maybe even GS430h to my garage as a proper barge and comfortable cruiser. They just seem so well made and nicely appointed inside, not to mention far more reliable and less stressful to own than an older BMW, Audi or Merc.
I think my wife would love it for when we go somewhere so we don't have to travel in the FD RX-7 which isn't that comfortable for longer journeys. Hmm...going to check the classifieds.

A play in my old boss's LS-F changed my opinion, really very rapid and not just in a straight line. Still took the piss for it being a granddad car mind.My other car is an IS-F, anyone who thinks Lexus only make boring cars for their stereotypical market would probably come to a different opinion if they took a drive in one.
