Anybody been keeping up with this?

Started off with rea cruising round the racing line whilst chaz davies was on a hot lap , chaz let him know he wasn't happened on the track and a well reported spat in the pits and it resulted in a 3 place grid penalty for rea.

Race 1 between rea and davies was really boiling up until davies bike conked out on the last lap .

Yes, had Matt Roberts twitching as welll eh? My bet is with Chaz to win in the second round if it got physical but Jonnie will continue to do the talking on track...was a great race, shame it ended the way it did, today should be a corker..

Not so sure i've spoken to chaz at a half marathon and he was saying how hard it was , i just expected him to breeze around it.

So chaz would have to win in the 2nd round because if it went full distance rea would pick him apart ( not that i've ever run with rea)

Dear DORNA

Well done for completely fking up what was a great weekend format for the average travelling fan. Not content with the non event on Saturday you have created, the grid reversals also fail to deliver anything other than frustration and further diminish the show.

Whilst I appreciate that things have to 'move on' and change to accommodate changing audiences, however, you really have just spoilt this at a time when the series needs to regain the kind of racing that meant it at least remains attractive to attend.

As we now race as a family, 3 of us, one being 3.5yrs old any race meeting is now twice as complicated and involves more logistics than your average 3rd world civil war. However, WSB used to be an awesome race day, 2 x SBK races, SSP, SSK and other stuff, wildcards in their day as well. A full race card and worth the time to travel and pay. Now to see both races we have to stay an extra night near the track and the Saturday atmosphere at Assen was limited to say the least.

Sundays race order was WSS, WSB, SSP300 and SSK. So by lunch all the big races had been done and the stands emptied accordingly. Good atmosphere though until after WSB, it really is a jewel of a circuit.

However, as I sat there in the half empty Winterdeijk stand, I reflected on the glory days with King Carl, 125k at Brand’s.... Even a wet Magny Cours we did in 2012 or 2013 was a better days racing than the awful cobbled together affair this weekend, or any WSB race weekend looks like now.

Then, to compound the farce, you throw in this reverse grid complication and talk about how Fores won pole. No he didn't, he finished fourth and got put there by some arbitrary rules.

Onto the 2nd race, after this change of the grid has been done, not only do we just have a few laps of tough passes and people desperate to get to the front, we then have Melandri chuck it away in what seemed like frustration and Davies lost the bulk of his time behind the pole sitter Fores who then proceeded to accelerate backwards through the field at a phenomenal rate.

Whilst it could be argued that Davies should have got through sooner and that's the measure of the best, I'd argue if we didn't have this stupid system we would have had the 3 best in the championship trying to settle the scores from the previous day, but no, DORNA know best, so stuck barriers to entry to that scenario. tts.

Still, we had an awesome weekend. Assen remains one of our favourite circuits in the world we've been privileged to have been too and we'll be back for MGP and BSB this year, but I'm not sure we'll be back for WSB next year. Such a shame, as WSB has such a rich history of titanic battles, characters and racing.

Looking over to the pits this weekend, it had the look of a BSB round, not a World Championship.

As we walked back to the car, along actions of the old circuit I remember watching the racing from, especially Xaus cranked over into the banked right where the car was today, I mourned the loss of the old circuit from even 15yrs ago, but I mourned more for a return of the WSB of old. It's not quite RIP WSB, but it is being spoon fed and needs an operation soon to sort it out.
