I've owned a few type rs

CTR breadvan
CTR egg shape
and ATR.

I've never really bonded with any of them and never "got" what they're about. Am I the only one?

They are marmite, I never got on with the FN2, my EP3 with a lsd and an extra 40ish bhp I have. I understand why people prefer the power delivery of the Clio's etc although similar in how they go about things they do feel like they have a bit more of a surge lower down and are less on/off.

I really need a go in a dc2 given the praise they receive.

Would love to own one just as a track car. The thought of sitting on the cam between 6-8k is to my ears a symphony of sweet music (bugger the tinnitus). I had a series of 3 Citroen BX 19 GTI 16Vs between 2000 and 2008. One rotted away. Another was totalled while parked on Madeira Drive seafront on brighton at a bottleneck where two lanes mere into one going east. The third. Had the red light coming on during Rickover due to worn bearings. While not as much fun as the Honda, its perky aspirated engine did scream away to 7k rpm and felt capable of more with gas flowing and blue printing... but I didn’t have the dosh frown Since then I’ve had two relatively pedestrian Volvo S40 1.9 T4s. 200bhp 220 ftlb torque bog standard. Presently on my second, an automatic.... but..... you can use the 1-2, 3, D as a vicious gearbox... if not concerned about the consequences of manually changing gear through a torque converter at 6000+ rpm 😣🤪😏

Hard to find genuinely good ones now! I was exceptionally lucky.

So many have been ‘modded’ which doesn’t always add up to an improved experience.

So much to be said for decent standard examples with fresh bushes. Honda got so much spot-on right out of the box!

Agreed, to some extent. I had a mostly original black UK DC2 early last year which had freshly been rebushed, and was mostly stock other than that. The only thing I had fault with was that the previous owner chose mostly poly-bushes for it. I hate it when compliant rubber is switched out for poly, especially on the rear trailing arm where the suspension design requires flex to allow the rear to toe in under braking.

Other than that, it was great. Quite a bit slower in a straight line than my K20a DC2, but overall a great road car.

Yeah they aren’t grunty in B18 guise by modern standards- but the fun of revving it out & the chassis just makes it so good to drive. The lack of weight & ability to carry corner speed offsets it too

Spot on with the bushes. OEM RTA & hardrace for the rest. Poly a no-go

Mine remains as fabulous to drive as ever.

A genuine Mugen airbox addition now allows the B18 to pull & rev even more cleanly whilst sounding like it belongs on a circuit.

Just had a couple of cosmetic bits done so it’s back looking fully fresh. Wheels to follow- oem 15’s refurbed in Championhip white & wrapped in AD08’s

Just need to finish rebushing it & il be fully happy.

Really wouldn’t swap it for anything- such is the marriage between machine & this particular man!
