Is that the reflection of a single yellow line from under the front bumper?

Just thinking that if it was two wheels on the pavement, you might be able to add another group of people to your suspect list.
It is indeed a yellow line but I wasn't parked on it - I was in a CPZ parking bay for resident permit holders (and also without my wheels on the pavement).

Feckers. 100% of people on here will have total sympathy for you. Vandalising someone's property is a crime beneath contempt - a P Boiler for sure.

A few years ago, Hull City had just won promotion to the Premier League, and some P*ssed up supporter keyed 7 cars down the street to 'celebrate' FFS. Full length of the cars and down to metal!
Thing was he did 3, passed by mine, then did another 4. When I went out to the car there were enraged owners having a rant and when they saw mine hadn't been done, I got some suspicious looks until the neighbours I knew vouched for me.
The police did get the culprit about 3 months later, one of his drinking pals turned him in after he'd drunkenly bragged about it. The ar*ehole who did it lived further down the street!
All seven had their insurers go for him after he was prosecuted, he got some stupid little fine and community service, but was ordered to pay the owners costs for re sprays. The grapevine reckoned that came to about £10K. He moved shortly after the court case, wonder why.
He wasn't just some teenage scroat, he was in his 30s!!

Your blocking the warning sign to oncoming cars, they cant see the information on the road sign in front of your car, maybe someone did it because of that.

I seriously doubt it. His car is parked absolutely correctly - perhaps they should have vandalised the sign for being position incorrectly?

Had my M6 Cab keyed all down offside one NYE outside a pub in Marlborough of all places.
Sold it very next business day and can't bring myself to buy a nice daily driver any more.

It's actually quite liberating having a car that you don't worry about. Who is going to key a Passat CC?
Sad but true
Not wanting to get you all paranoid but Passat CCs are actually really nice looking cars!

Knowing nothing about road signs, why is it incorrect. The council are doing a street by me and theres loads like that one.

That sign was indicating 'Road Closed' as Affinity Water were digging up the road. There were other signs further on too and you could see the road was closed by the bloody great big yellow barriers they'd put up.

The sign had moved from when I parked though - originally it was on the pavement when I parked the car and when I came back it was in the road in its position above.

So, anyone got any advice for good paint repair people in the Watford/Herts area?

Get a quote from Chipsaway, it may not need a full respray and a SMART repair may be much cheaper. Bad luck though, I'd be fuming.

Another vote for Chipsaway. I used them a couple of times and have been impressed, much cheaper than a conventional paint shop or main dealer.

It's happened to me and very bloody annoying. mad

You have my sympathies, people like that are s, pure and simple.

I've had cars vandalised twice over the years, I know how you feel & it's makes me sick to the stomach when it's done to to others as well.

This is so true, I went from my pride and joy Megane 250 to a £800 clio. Something very refreshing about not worrying about if someone has opened their door on it when I get back to it every day.

Same here - mine got keyed across the door & panel behind (3 door car) - Chipsaway respray quote was less than half the amount I got from the local dealer group's crash repair centre. I took it to a Chipsaway body shop rather than getting it done by a mobile unit.

Looks like a nice area for this kind of thing to happen?

My colleague was telling me his car got keyed over the weekend (all panels), along with a dozen or so other cars on his street, and it also got me thinking - Why do they do it?

Because there are no consequences is the only theory I can come up with.

What kind of spineless arse wipe attacks inanimate objects in the small hours? If he/she has a problem with somebody, he/she should grow a pair and confront them about it, but no, it's far more heroic to run a key down a very fragile surface isn't it?

There is never an excuse but a neighbour kept on parking his car partly on the pavement for no apparent reason. It partly obstructed the entrance to a pedestrian alleyway making life difficult for mums with their buggies from the local estate & those using walkers or a wheelchair. There were mutterings of discontent but whether the selfish parker was approached I do not know, but suddenly the car was parked with more consideration for pedestrians. I noted that the car now had several scratches down the side, some as if a buggie had been dragged along it & then one long single deep cut no doubt done with a screwdriver or key.
Sometimes the perpetrator deservedly becomes the victim but in this case it was not wanton destruction for no reason.

A friend of mine's father had a Volvo C30. Came out to it one day and someone had walked over the roof. Insurance job in the end as the roof had to be cut out

Bill was £7k.
