I have been offered a fair price on line from WBAC so decided I would take it in tomorrow and do the deal but without really thinking I have just taken my private plate from my car online so now the car does not have the same Reg number as my Reg document.

Have I made a mistake? I guess now they won't do the deal.

Any advise please.

I doubt they will do the deal without the correct (new) V5, but it will only be a few days until it arrives.....

If you ignore WBAC for seven days, they will normally contact you with a slightly higher offer for your car to entice you to sell to them

Also try Evan Halshaw. They will beat the WBAC price.

I was very sceptical but sold a car to them recently and they didn't even try to knock their offer price down. I was very surprised how straightforward the whole process was.

Except for when you get it down to them for inspection and they go to the trouble of measuring panel gaps and paint thickness etc. Expect to be 'knocked' by at least a third from their online offer.

Absolute rubbish
Unless the car in question has been poorly repaired & not declared when you got the quote of course !

My car is virtually unmarked so this will be a good benchmark to see how true they are.

We sold a fleet of work Transits to WBAC and they were hardly immaculate and they paid what we thought as a very fair price for them. By the time they spruced and painted them up and still had to make money etc.

Didn't happen to me when I sold my mums SLK to them. In fact they paid more than the price quoted online because the scratch on the front was across two panels, but he only charged me one 'fee' for it because it would be one repair. They gave us £3750 for a car I had listed on eBay at £3500. And I still had some telling me I was wasting his time because I wouldn't sell to him for £2k.

It's easy to offer a good price on vans, especially Transits, they have a quick turnover and are easy to sell at a predictable rate. Private cars tend to vary a lot more which is why the deal offered by these services tend to be a lot less, particularly for more niche vehicles.

Completely agree.

Myself, family members and friends have all sold cars to them and none have been knocked down.

If you're completely honest in your own appraisal, they are very fair.

I've recounted a story on PH previously about arriving at a WBAC centre and finding one of the staff in the car park trying to explain to a stupid bint that her 206 wasn't completely un-damaged, as she had initially claimed, and that no, not every car has multiple dings down each side and wheels that look like a grizzly bear has been gnawing at them, as she was seemingly trying to claim.

She would have been one of those people claiming that WBAC tried to knock her down and rip her off.

Yep, I was amazed what they offered for a not-very-nice VW Caddy and even more amazed when they paid up painlessly and without quibble

Similarly they gave my dad a few quid more for his Focus runaround because he'd put down on the appraisal that a piece of boot trim was falling off because it has a broken clip. The WBAC guy said it would stick back on with some double-sided so wasn't an issue.

Also similarly my sister got only a few hundred quid less for her Copper S convertible than she'd been advertising it online for without a sniff of a genuine buyer.

They knocked me down £750 which was harsh, she though a panel might have been resprayed but was not sure so took £200 off for that. I negotiated an extra £250 which they agreed. So knocked £500 off in the end. I did not sell the car as I expected what was offered but offer is open till Friday.
