For the guy praising the mk3 Focus RS. Get your self a 15 year old Evo 8 MR then come back and say the Focus is fun. It is quite a embarrassment that an old fq360 could show a brand new Ford a thing or two.
An RS takes no where near the amount of dedication an EVO does. That being said, with the amount of money you'd save on an EVO, aswell as the difference in performance, its very much worth it.

Depends what you define as dedication, in terms of handling the evo will grip and grip and grip and it still won't slide = fast/fun. The RS is a child's dream because of the "drift" button which lets be honest does Jack st and is pointless. Round the corners the new RS can most definitely learn a few things from the old Jap saloon

If you don't think an RS AND an evo9 fq360 can't both be quite equally prevoked to go sideways then you haven't driven either. I have. Both great cars. An RS is merely a more refined version with more toys. The evo is a bit quicker due to 150kgs of weight difference and less creature comforts but it seems we are drifting off topic as there are ao many RS haters about. I was merely saying that for a brand new car it has loads of character.

FFRS characterful? Errr..Don't think so. It's a new fast hatch. No more, no less.
I'm sure that by now we all know that you hate them and that any BMW is the best thing since sliced bread rolleyes

Loud noise, loud looks, pointy steering, great brakes, figure hugging seats and sporty suspension for me adds character, much more than anything around its price point imo. Probably the most hated car on PH and one of the most revered by reviewers hot hatches.

For me it being a hatchback is a plus point and not a drawback.

I was more on about the low mileage service intervals than driving, although the EVO is probably a little more intense for everyday driving, not that its a bad thing.

I would rather have the service interval but a rear diff unit that could take the power.

Don't a lot of recent cars have "enhanced" sounds?

Yep including the M3 M4 Hurracan (why?),?slight enhancement to GT4 and 981 Spyder in Sport plus mode too. Thankfully the 991.1 GT3 and gen 2 escaped.

Unfortunately its what the target customers now want. Apparantly.

Dilution is dire.

I don't hate it but do like how touchy you get about the bloody thing. As for being "revered", I don't think it did particularly well at CoTY tests but that's to be expected.

If you are a hatchback type of fellow, of course you will like that sort of thing but personally I find that layout flawed. No doubt a good hatchback. But not a great car, all things considered.

Imperfection can often be perfection.

Indiosyncracies give a certain character.

Cars can be similar to women.

Yeh £10 and 15mins changing the plugs, and £30 of oil and 30mins changing it at max of 6 months apart depending on mileage is a massive inconvenience for such a highly tuned engine?

Do you understand why this is so?

Hint, how happy would you be to have cars blasting past your bedroom window at 2am with noisy blaring exhausts and intakes? I sodding bet you'd be the first to start a thread titled "bl**dy boy races keeping us wake" or whatever! So, the EU and other law makers have, sensibly, decided to put in place laws that limit the amount of noise a car can make in order to get a better standard of living for everyone. The side effect, from these quieter cars is that in order to give some feedback to the driver in 'sporty' models, that is now best done via secondary methods (be that ducting intake noise to sounders on the bulkhead, or by playing stuff through the speakers etc). Why that should be "cringeworthy" i fail to see. Sounds like (sic) a clever solution to me.........

Maybe you could specify what engine sound you want your new car to have piped in? A 120d with an M3 soundtrack? An M badge on the back and Roberts your sisters husband.

Nothing wrong with synthesised sound, pogo suspension and e steering to give you that "sporty" feel we all yearn for. Oh and don't forget 5 seats. Very important. Just in case.
