This is why cyclists are seen as a nuisance by so many road users. It does nothing to ease their cause........i see cyclists getting drenched from car windscreen washer jets and choking on diesel fumes most days after incidents like these as cars retaliate for the hold up.
The cars are not retaliating - it's the fat s driving them who are doing that.

I don't know about the cycle lanes in the above post, but I've tried using them near me and they are more dangerous than the road due to poor maintenance and design.

It'd be a help of they stuck to 2 abreast around my way, I came around a tight B road left hander today in a van, just touching the white line on the offside to avoid an over grown hedge and narrowly missed taking out half of some mid level corporate's management on their jolly boys outing to.compare who's spent most of their bonus on their new bike.

I love cycling as a sport and a past time and where we live I'm very used to and very tolerant of cyclists, but the prevailing attitude of these large groups of middle aged blokes out for a jolly when they should be on the golf course or drinking at the lodge is very poor.

If you take a wker off the golf course and put him on a bike he unfortunately won't magically cease to be a wker. Bikes are great, but they're not that great.

The upside is a lot of very nice bikes for sale secondhand and not much used.

It's illegal to ride a motor bike below a 125cc on a 70mph motorway yet its legal for a cyclist to pedal along at 10 mph in a 60....... I will never understand it.
That's obvious, since both of those acts are perfectly legal, not just the latter.

It's funny how once cyclists run out of argumentative logic they are the first to start with the personal insults or correcting grammar/spelling. It is also funny how they like to call everyone who isn't a cyclist "fat" with no actual idea of their bodytype.

Quite hilarious if you ask me actually.

Says the man calling someone a tt for stopping to have a drink at the side of a clear road.

Please go back to the start of this thread and observe who is the first to start with personal insults, and report back.

What's hilarious is you are either an idiot or troll.
I'm starting to think the latter and know one can be that stupid

It's interesting as I read over and over again about how poorly designed cycle lanes are and that is why cyclists never use them preferring instead to mix it with the cars etc.

Why, instead of conducting protests such as lying in the road and playing dead, don't the pro cycling groups try and offer their obviously way more expert views to the authorities and help them design proper cycling facilities?

I suspect I know the answer, but let the fun commence.

The vast, vast majority of the UK's 'cycling facilities' are comprised of no more than paint and achieve the square root of bugger all because their existence is incentivised by the metre, rather than by any real drive to improve conditions for road users.

The pro cycling groups put a huge amount of effort into lobbying the authorities - or did you think it was the cabbies who asked for the recent changes to London's cycling infrastructure?

Personally I don't want to see 'proper cycling facilities' - they won't help me deal with the idiots when I'm not on my bike, which is most of the time. I want to see higher driving standards.

I wasn't talking about lobbying which, in the case of cycling is really is nothing more than waving your hands in the air and saying 'poor me', I was talking about offering their opinions on how to design the sort of facilities they might actually use. It pisses me off that my taxes are spent on things that nobody can use!

PS Personally I want to see higher cycling standards

The law needs to be changed to be a definitive single file only when riding a bicycle.
Looking at that video they should have been in single file without a doubt.

Looks uphill. Speed limit atleast 40mph?
What speed can a cyclist do up a hill? Not 40mph so there would be traffic created behind them.

There is a time and place for 2 a breast cycling.

They achieve the square root of bugger all due to whiny cyclists who believe they should be singled out for special treatment.

I agree with this. I see many bad drivers on the road but as a percentage it's far lower than the amount of bad riding by cyclists.
