Enjoying this. Got to go with the special ones that truly got under my skin and started a love affair that has not left. That moment when you see one and all else is forgotten.
60's - Mini 850. My Mum's Glacier white one. This started a love of all hot hatches.
70's - Lotus Europa twin cam JPS black, driven by cool bloke who looked like Sean Connery. I still love everything Lotus.
80's - Lancia Rally 037 in Martini colours. This led to a love of Lancias and all rally monsters
90's - Clio Williams. Sublime daily
00's - Clio V6. Half Hot hatch, half super car. Totally unique.
10's - This is harder. Given the trend for retro, perhaps an Eagle speedster. No, it has to be an Evora 400. 2+2 so that i can bring the family.

1970s - Alfa Romeo GTV6. Beautiful shape and a Busso driving the rear wheels.
1980s - Cosworth for me too. Savagely quick (in its day), endlessly tweakable, and with real motorsport pedigree. In Moonstone, it still looks fantastic, IMHO.
1990s - McLaren F1 - built with no expense spared, no compromise, and with OCD levels of attention to detail. They even put a weight limit on the stereo. Amazing car never to be repeated.
2000s - E46 M3. This is one of the finest engines I have ever encountered, and a really lovely package. I want one!
2010s -
Struggling to think of anything that stands out in the 2010s, to be honest.

50s Morris Minor Traveller - I've always like those. Green preferably
60s Jaguar E-Type - I remember sitting in one at the Earls Court motorshow. It felt like you had to climb up out of it. "The most beautiful car ever made" Enzo Ferrari. I got Graham Hill's autograph at that show too.
70s Mk1 Golf GTI When they came out they were a revelation The Ferrari 308 is also a fantastic car, but I just prefer the 328. so..
80s Ferrari 328. The 308 and 328 shapes are apparently the most identifiable Ferrari silhouettes. Classics.
90s Audi RS2 (or McLaren F1 or Ferrari 355, but I didn't want my list to be full of Ferraris). The RS2 was another German game changer. A supercar for all the family?
00s Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Looks and sound great (the V8 is very nice, but doesn't sound as good and since this is theoretical I don't have to worry about the fuel bills)
10s Ferrari GTC4 Lusso. A real supercar for all the family, although I would hesitate to fill it with garden rubbish and take it to the tip.

Seeing this thread in TOTD I thought it would be easy, then I flicked through the 4 pages and saw what others had put, amazing how many cars you forget!
For me;
80s - Mk1 Golf GTI, technically 70s I suppose but they built them into the 80s so I'm sticking with it. Greatest car I've ever owned.
90s - McLaren F1, although the older I get the more the Elise S1 grows on me. This is the decade I started to appreciate cars so there's a hell of a lot to choose from.
00s - Struggling with this, nothing really comes to mind but I do own a Clio 182 and it's great so maybe that, it was practical and fun before it became a track car.
10s - RS3 saloon, the proportions are perfect, it has loads of power and sounds amazing, I'd rather this than any modern supercar.

Old git alert!
50s - Austin Healey 3000.
60s - E-Type FHC
70s - Ferrari Daytona
80s - Capri 2.8 Injection (mainly because I had two)!
90s - Escort Cosworth
00s - BMW Z4 Coupe (mainly because I am on my 2nd)!
10s - Mustang V8
From one old git to another - pretty much with you up until the 00s50s - Austin Healey 3000.
60s - E-Type FHC
70s - Ferrari Daytona
80s - Capri 2.8 Injection (mainly because I had two)!
90s - Escort Cosworth

Being 90s born I don't have many decades to choose from but I've done my best.... which many people will look at and think "what the hell is this spanner smoking?"
90s: Honda NSX (favourite model: later face-lift versions)
This is one my all time favourites, the Senna designed chassis is still superb and it benefits from the good old fashioned controls while still being modern.
00s: Smart Roadster (favourite model: Brabus coupe, especially the RCR)
Ticks every box for me. Looks great, sounds fantastic, lightweight (really lightweight), it's rare, fun, cheap to run and is very underrated. Yes it's a marmite car, yes it's slow in a straight line and yes the gearbox is naff but seriously you MUST try driving one.
10s: Morgan 3 wheeler (favourite model: there is only one)
Yes it's design is a hundred years old but the new ones started in 2012 so it counts! I can't think of many cars I want to drive more than this, it just looks so much more fun than anything else made today.

90s -
Has always been a dream car of mine, wouldn't buy one unless I had hideous amounts of money to sink into getting the silly power figures out of it .
00s -
I've always loved these, the saloon and the coupe. See it as everything an American muscle car is, in a much more 'European' shell. Although the early 00s BMW M3 was nearly nearly here, thought I would add something a wee bit different though.
10s -
One of the very few high end sports cars you can buy which still prescribes to the 'lighter is better' school of thought.
