What Was Your First Car?
Discussion
2003 Renault Clio 1.2. Wrote it off one morning by hitting a fallen tree (came round a corner a bit fast, didn't see tree in time, road was damp, locked the brakes, skidded, etc). RIP.
Still some of my fondest driving memories come from that car, thrashing it along back roads at 2am coming home from my girlfriends. Fun times. Slower cars are often more fun when you're looking to push on a bit - not much use at the traffic light grand prix though.

I bought my first car in 1976 - a 1967 Ford Cortina MKII 1500 in Lagoon Blue. Reg was PJJ1E, and it had a 1600E wooden dash! I should probably have sold that and the plate!
It was a sh*gged out rep special with rubber floormats, but by the time I sold it the GT badges, remote gearchange, 6.5 inch banded rear wheels and copious amounts of pop-riveted panels from Duckhams cans covered with Plastic Padding had improved it no end.
On the insurance front, the car cost £250 and Third Party Fire and Theft insurance was £116!
I only had it 1 year thankfully!
After the Anglia fyc481c , I also had a Lagoon Blue 1500 MK2 jru128e for a short time before the ultimate of the day gold 1600e . Why do we still remember those reg after all these years , struggle with my current ones sometimes , fun times . 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500 in Pimento Red.
I bought it as a restoration project in 2011 when I was 16. It had been off the road for six years. I got it through an MOT and then slowly upgraded it. I learned to drive in it alongside my dad’s Ford Fiesta TDCI – he’s a driving instructor so taught me to drive.
I used it for a short while after passing my test in 2012, but running costs and insurance were too expensive at the time and I had to sell it. The replacement was a Peugeot 107, quite a difference from the Spitfire!
I would love to buy it back one day, fantastic little car.

We're clearly kindred spirits. I assume that is where you took the 1500 username from, same as me with my Midget? I bought it as a restoration project in 2011 when I was 16. I always preferred the look of the Spitfire but was happy with my Midget, especially when the bumpers were removed.
