RE: Jaguar XE Project 8 confirmed
Discussion
This report suggests a standard V8 version will be released albeit as an 'R' rather than an 'SVR'

I can't see why Jaguar don't offer the AWD version of the 380 hp S in the UK.

I do love how Jaguar can do no wrong in the British motoring press...
Still...it DOES sound like the sort of silliness that we need to support...
I do loathe how manufacturers like Jaguar can do no right in the eyes of sections of the British public. Every positive review derided with complaints of bias. Still...it DOES sound like the sort of silliness that we need to support...

IIRC it's a shared crank-case; different block and obviously different heads. The question is whether the engine will need to be pushed forwards to get the extra height in at the back of the engine bay, and if it does whether there's enough bonnet clearance for the front of the heads to meet pedestrian safety regs.
Plus of course the cooling requirements will vary significantly between the V6 and V8.
The block casting is the same on V6 & V8. They just don't machine the rear two pits on the V6. Plus of course the cooling requirements will vary significantly between the V6 and V8.

This engine and 4wd (so you can actually get the power down on damp British roads) in an XF Sportbrake and we're talking.
Erm... Bit like this then?http://www.evo.co.uk/jaguar/xfr/7365/jaguar-xfr-s-...
Saying that the original XFRS SB isn't AWD is it

(Yes, yes, I know that that winter tyres are better than 4wd, but we put winter tyres on the other car, and I'm not sure I can be bothered with winter tyres on both cars).
Still tempting though.
I ordered one of these on Friday, or at least my local Jag dealer accepted a deposit from me for one. The dealers received notification, via email, of the Project 8 at 1.06am on Friday morning apparently, so he didn't know anymore than I did at the time.
Not sure when the allocations are made but keeping my fingers crossed.

They need to go & race this in the Supercars series in Aus it would be great to see it thundering around bathurst rtc
I was thinking something similar, but why not introduce a proper UK/ Euro touring car series with M3s, C63s, QFs, this etc in 'stock' form. Let's say 300 have to be manufactured for the public. 20+ of these would sound epic, and would enliven any Sunday afternoonpixelmix said:
