How many staff does PH have? What do they actually do all day? There's a few stories a week and the classifieds to administer.

He's OK but to be honest there are far better writers and journalists out there.

I gave up reading his stuff a while back as I realised it wasn't for me. Unfortunately Autocar is also sinking with some shockingly poor writers. No idea who still buys that magazine.
I've heard he speaks highly of you also.

Mostly delete the spam threads from Indians selling love potions (which wouldn't be there in the first place if someone pulled their finger out of their arse and implemented some basic security protocols) and move topics around from relevant forums to irrelevant ones.

It's been on a downward spiral since PetrolTed sold out.

There seems to be a lot of this going on at the moment. I expect this thread will end up in that woeful 'car buying' forum or elsewhere.

How long has it been since Garlick left? His articles were the best efforts on PH.

Using this story as a chance to have a moan about the site is a bit rubbish IMO. Again IMO Dan is the best thing ever to have happened to PH, and no I'm not a relative. Very sad to see him go. The number of people who can describe cars well, not just from behind a laptop but also as very cogent pieces to camera while trying pretty hard in the driver's seat, is pretty small. Dan is one of them. I hope he ends up somewhere that merits his ability.

Is it not the Forum Mods that do this mostly, Big Al etc... Not the hired hands?

Rumour has it that PT has a new Forum, purely car orientated...

Ta ta, Dan.
smile I did know that TCF, hence the elipses...

There is also CTF, but tast time I looked it was deadish.

Is this written in some new PH language or code that I don't know about?

Ta ta, Dan. Good luck with pastures new.
Seriously hope he hasn't been foolish enough to join Blatters. The site is absolutely rubbish. Like a Tesco Value DriveTribe. Gets -99% less traffic than PH.

It may be that comments like this are why he created a new Forum? It is not like in here, the posters actually seem really decent.

As long as you are happy with virtually nothing going on over there it's great.

Some things need a kick to get going though, why not nip in?

I was one of those who signed up recently after the skin change, but after several visits found there was very little going on so haven't bothered since. A bit chicken and egg I know but PH is far more interesting even if it is sometimes for the wrong reasons wink

Sad to hear of Dan's departure, I've thoroughly enjoyed his contributions to this website. I've met a few of the PH staff on occasions but sadly never got a chance to meet Dan in person.
Best of luck wherever you are heading next, and thank you.
+1 and he is/was much better than Garlick

Well, can't say I'm surprised, his articles are always riddled with technical and factual errors with a distinct tone of a career journo rather than a car nut/pistonhead.

I get it that this is a business underneath the veneer of a community so we shouldn't be surprised and I'm happy to accept it as part of the "motoring press"... they want the public to believe we're reading the product of enthusiasts but its just more media nonsense.

Good luck to him, Good luck to PistonHeads finding a worthy, talented replacement.

If blatters has the same stupid name and shame policy that Ted used for PH it will be completely pointless.
