I didn't realise it was a binary choice
I can list right now 5 cars (all fast!) Id buy if I won Millions of Pounds.
I can also list 3 bikes I'd buy as well.
One of those cars would be an RS6 or C63 Estate so I could take the bike
What is the point in buying 5 fast cars if everywhere you go, the roads are dominated by cyclists?I can list right now 5 cars (all fast!) Id buy if I won Millions of Pounds.

Cars dominate the roads far more, cause a) they're physically bigger and dominating and b) there's fking millions of them
Same argument as to why buy any high performance car when the speed limit is 70? Cause I can

Whatever you do, don't go to Holland. You won't survive the experience !
I strongly suggest going to Holland... before commenting on Holland. The Dutch have it right when it comes to cycling.

If cyclists want the UK's attitude towards cycling to change, it needs to start with the cyclists.
I disagree, it needs to change with all road users irrespective of vehicle. Don't forget that most cyclists are drivers. But not many drivers are cyclists.Edited by nickfrog on Tuesday 30th May 12:56
If anything it's the tourists walking in the cycle lanes that cause the cyclists to get annoyed.
I stopped cycling on the road over 20 years ago after being knocked of my bike once at a junction by a builders van and on a roundabout by a taxi that didn't look.
The first time the van nearly took my leg off and the second time I was catapulted and nearly hit my head on the kerb.
Since then I dont think bikes and cars mix in the UK - In Holland, when I worked there, it was fine no problems but UK roads and attitude of cyclists (Le Prataton!!) they just don't mix so I stick to foot or my car.

I dunno where you live, but roads aren't "dominated" by cyclists anywhere afaik
Centre Parcs? In a nod to the OP. I actually stopped tonight behind a guy at a red light (roadworks) in a PH cycling top (Ripley if you're reading) made me laugh as I thought of the various gobstes on cycling threads. The bloke on the bike could have rlj'd since there was nothing coming. But he didn't

I do however agree cyclists should stop at red lights and generally obey rules, you aren't Lancely Wigendish on the Tour De France, you are out for a Sunday ride or going to work, stopping will provide extra exercise.
I generally don't get involved in motorist v cyclist threads, but this is the most relevant posting I have seen hitherto! Couldn't agree more.AH33 said:
My advice would be to sell the bicycle and just use the car.
You can't get knocked off a car.
Sadly, more people die in cars in the UK every day than get killed riding bikes. You can't get knocked off a car.

I generally don't get involved in motorist v cyclist threads, but this is the most relevant posting I have seen hitherto! Couldn't agree more.Stopping at red lights is a good idea. One I subscribe to. And IME there tends to be a gradual change in attitudes. More people are stopping in 2017 than in 1997. Which is a good thing.
Generally obey rules. Yep, I agree. But as a question. Aside from the red light jumping, I don't actually see what rule breaking is taking place on a massive daily amount by cyclists. Speeding is irrelevant, filtering at high speed is silly but not illegal. I don't ride and play with my phone. Weaving I suppose is stupid, but I daresay not illegal. Wheelies are probably illegal, but it's normally kids so I'm kinda ambivalent to it.
But PLEASE can we have drivers held to the same standard? I wasn't exactly looking out for this evening, but I saw loads of people driving looking at their phones, People speeding, (those are the 2 big ones I suspect) people cutting each other. And that's just a 20mile commute.
As ever there's tts everywhere regardless of how they are travelling.
