There's two fat pigeons that live on my estate. They don't look like the ones in a town centre, more like the dove type, but still an obvious grey, and annoying with their coo's.

About 2 hours ago, I saw a brief flutter on the guttering at the house across the road, where a magpie often sits and drinks. I saw the pigeon move in, and didnt really see much else except the magpie fly away.

Just now, I turn into my estate, and this pair of fat idiots are sat in the road. I wasn't going to start throwing the car around or slamming on to avoid them, i've done that enough times in town. I didnt want to risk an accident obviously for the life of one pigeon. I was sure i'd miss the fat thing, but maybe he had a brainwave and decided to walk towards me, because i heard a light thud on the bodywork and saw the feathers in the mirror as i stopped on my drive. The other one flew away onto a roof.

Within less than a minute, the same magpie comes down and starts circling the dead pigeon. It's squaking as loud as i've ever heard one before, and looking at the other pigeon as it's doing this. It agressivley stomps round this dead pigeon in a tight circle for a good 2-3 minutes, with the occasional body prod to see if it's dead, before flying away.

Was the magpie celebrating a victory over the now dead pigeon?
I despair over the mentality of some PH posters.

I'd guess he was sizing it up for dinner later on.

frown

They are/were wood pigeons most likely. Harmless birds.

You need to change your name. No one who deliberately kills a creature in this way has the right to use a mystical creature as their user name!!
