I think this is just perception. My wife hates soft suspension and it took her ages to find the right car. Everything we test drove was wallowy and understeerey, even if we avoided the obvious SUVs etc. The damping on most cars was also shockingly bad. We'd both say we're obsessed with tall, heavy, wallowy and underdamped cars in the UK biggrin

I find it strange how people who live in cities like London buy sports models. The speed bump outside my house has collected more than a few front splitters, the pot holes eat 19 inch wheels for breakfast and average traffic light race is limited to 20 mph due to the blanket speed limit...funny thing is a neighbour's son took my old 190e 2.6 for a drive the other day and fell in love and his 25! Was that a speed bump? What pot hole? Sit back and take life easy..
I find it strange that people assume city dwellers remain forever tethered within the city itself.

You do realise that Britain is part of Europe?
Whether he does or not, what's that got to do with what he wrote?
Have a read of it again and you will see.

I got my Quattroporte with the smaller 19" wheels for this very reason.

I am lucky in that I like the 19" wheel design much better anyway. Ok on the Gran Turismo the 21" are much much nicer, but on the QP surely nice comfy ride is the most sensible.

A car buff at work said "that just sounds like you couldn't afford one with the big wheels" half jokingly. still, I bought it as I have a baby daughter under 1 and its a great place to get about it at the weekend while going fast and cornering hard aren't priority.

On Topic: If you want supreme comfort, go for a modern classic with small wheels.

Mmmm. Patronising and pedantic. What a delightful fellow you must be. We must go and have brew sometime, say in 40 years or so.

It panders to those who are irritating & tiresomely competitive & like to be thought of as sporty outdoor types.
They may leave dull suburban lives with dull suburban wives, got lumbered with kids & have to drive a glorified van-with-windows.
BUT put a SPORT sticker on it a stripe or two & a loud exhaust & hey ho they are young & attractive & free all over again .... in their head & nobody else's.
For the insecure it tells others they are not slow & ordinary, perish the thought.

Even my headlights can be set to "sport" mode... Germans need a good slap.

I always thought that "sport" was the German word for "stiff".

You sound more insecure than them though.
