It's not outside the realms of possibility that it's recorded as part of the trade in / sale for audit purposes.

Stinks to high heaven, certainly sounds like the dealer has just forgot to tax your car IMO.

Firstly, find out how the dealer knows your V5C number (they may not have sent it to the DVLA or retained the new keeper supplement by mistake). Then get on the phone to the DVLA about the lack of logbook. As you haven't got the NK supplement you'll have to pay £25 for a new one.

Was it a new or used car you bought from the dealership?
Used CR V We bought

You can up load photos click on the "Upload an image" link above on a new post.

You may very well have paid for it, that they have taxed it though. Mistakes happen - It is not the end of the world, so please do not worry!

So you have had no VED for 2 months, That does not show who the car was registered to at the time - might be the dealer, and they still have (or had the V5?

Just speak to the DVLA as suggested - Stuff happens.

If you check the online system you will see that it's been untaxed from 1/3/2017 so it was taxed for the 6 months previously. Just tax it now and the back tax and move on....

As said previously, the dealer must have advised the change of ownership to DVLA otherwise Dvla wouldn't have your name and address to send you the letter you have.

It's still showing as "untaxed" on the online system, although it can take a day or two to update.

Did they charge you back tax?

Does it state it starts from 1st April or 1st May?

There's a few lines of the email obscured by the Thumbsnap stuff.

Anytime I've done tax online it gave a license start date but then again I've always done it in advance so it might be slightly different.
