Yeah, I love the 1.9 wheels and have thought about getting a set but I am one for OEM and I'd also feel in some way like I was trying to make my car look like something that it's not, if that makes sense?

I've always liked the look of a Miami 1.9 with the wheels refurbished in black, possibly with a red lip? That's about as much modding as I think I could take!

Located in Auckland, New Zealand I have owned 4 x 205 GTi's(2 actually were 205 CTis, 1 a 1.6 manual and other a 1.9 automatic 4 speed-surprisingly good I found).
My favourite was a '94 GTi 1.9 Classic(limited edition with black leather, aircon, sunroof, & electric windows in Mayerling Green metallic). Was tired looking when I bought for NZ$ 1900.00, so needed a roof & rear hatch repaint, oil +filter change, aircon regassing, new front tyres and before I eventually sold it the front leather seats re-upholstered. Car was always admired as its classic Farina shape is not common in New Zealand, won a few concours prizes in the Peugeot Club. Was a brilliant drivers car, with torque to burn and a nice gearbox, but when I sold it I found a nice red 5 door 309GTi, which kept the GTi disease alive for longer. All GTis were daily drivers, put a smile on my dial every day they were driven and I have owned 20 Pugs in total, with a '70 404 sedan, a '98 306 Cabrio in red and an '02 406 Coupe 3.0 SE 5 speed manual still in the garage. I am 75 years old now but still love sporting Pugs. Cheers

I'm currently looking at a 205 CTi as for some reason the insurance quotes I'm getting are half what I'm getting for the GTi. They're also cheaper to buy.

How good are these to drive compared to a proper GTi?
The Cti is virtually as good as hard roofed GTi in my experience, I owned 2 of each model at different times. I fitted a strut brace to my 1.6 CTi 5 speeder & that stiffened the front, as these cars a very light & tend to flex in Cabriolet styling but they look fantastic with hood down on dry sunny days, of which we have plenty in New Zealand. I now have a red 306 Cabrio 2.0 as my daily driver, does not leak nor did I find that my 205 CTi leaked-they have a double layer soft top. Check the roof lock clamps, make sure they work well and lube them to keep them in good nick. I had to replace mine when I bought the car & being a PininFarina part from Italy they were bloody expensive then & probably unobtainable now(dont forget breakers yards). I did navigation trial rallies in my 205 Cabrio & blew away MG Midgets & MGb's with the Pugs much superior ride and cornering. Go for It !

Obviously quite the enthusiast! beer

My Mum had a few 306 cabriolets back in the 90's and early 00's, surely a future classic one day, just so pretty!

And we've got this that we took in part exchange, looking rather sorry for itself. One of our mechanics has a lovely 3.0 in Diablo however.

My 406 Coupe, a D9 model is same colour as your photo, mine is immaculate, done just 100,000 km (60,000 m), a grand tourer. Only use mine for out of city trips, so all long distance hot running which has kept the drive train like new, they have 4 airbags,ABS, cruise, 9 speaker quality stereo incl a 6 CD changer in boot, 16" alloys which are not expensive tyres at replacement. Still a much admired PininFarina design with his logo on the sides. In 2012 I attended the 406 Coupe Club annual meet at Donington Park ,from Worthing in the South. The PCC UK was having their annual meet same day on same site, so I met many members and talked 404s with a chap who brought his back from Kenya. There were 50 406 Coupes at Donington that day, included many with major mods to engines, wheels & bodywork, very interesting to meet & talk with their owners.

Great to see your car featured Andrew, it's a beauty.

I hope you'll be joining us again on the Yorkshire weekend too.
