Ok, the car wasn't saying a service was required, the dealer phoned and said it's due its 1st service, mu mums not car savvy and I'd previously said it shouldn't need servicing for the 1st 2 years seeing as the mileage she does wouldn't bring the service up any sooner, but she too the phone call from the dealer at face value and got the service done.

The extra work on the sleeve of the rear shock absorber was mentioned to her before they done it, but again she didn't really know enough to question it.

She phoned the dealer this morning to speak to the service manager but nobody was available to speak to her, so she took it upon herself to phone Skoda customer services who aren't too happy about the situation, they've told her the car wouldn't have been due it's 1st service until 2 years or 18000 miles, which ever came 1st, as for the extra £70 work, they aren't happy about that either and are planning on speaking to the dealer and they e also raised a complaint on her behalf which has an 8 week span to be resolved.

Go Skoda customer services!

Let us know how it pans out. One other thing - if this wasn't the supplying dealer, how did they know to contact your mum about a service?

Sure, it'll be interesting to see how it pans out in the end.

Basically about a week after the car was delivered, it was brand new, the service light came on so it was taken into the local dealer to have it sorted out.

Why did it go in at a year old? Surely it's on variable servicing? Was the car asking to be serviced?
Shouldn't have been on variable servicing at 3200 miles a year. Fixed - 10k or 1 year.
That's completely wrong sorry.

It's the case on some VAG products, so I thought it would be the same for Skoda.
But apparently it's only in areas where they use non- spec oil.
