Expect a £140k price tag and depreciation like a stone. smile
As long as it doesn't depreciate like the Z8 .... which strikes me as being unlikely. I was absolutely floored by the pricing of the Z8.

Wonder if BMW will let you spec it with the B&W camo colour scheme?
Trying to figure out if you are being amusing or not....the Z8 was a 'limited' edition (c.5,800?) roadster that currently commands almost double it's original RRP. The M8 most certainly will not fit into this bracket.

IMO it's very much aligned with the S63 coupe and will perform as such in value terms.
Z8 went down to about half of its original price about 10 years ago. I should've bought one then.
Yup shed money a lot quicker than the similarly priced 360 and 996 Turbo from memory - crystal ball would have come in handy at the time
You guys are kidding yourselves. The Z8 never got near shed money. Ever.

The CSL got close but the Z8 was only ever owned by people that didn't need to sell them. The turnover over years has been minuscule.

There's less than 100 in the uk and only 2/3 of those see the road.

As I said earlier, I never really thought it's audience was the UK - it was a real USA-targeted car. (Being LHD only probably helped that). The only ones I have seen that I think look half decent were the Alpina'd versions with the larger wheels etc.

I so hope BMW get their game back together....they were head and shoulders above Audi and Mercedes if you wanted a "drivers car" whether that was a Sport or an M. They're bang average now.

How the hell Audi has managed to sell something like the R8 successfully and BMW hasn't even tried to make a car like that is beyond me.

This may be a technical masterpiece, it is is exceptionally ugly. They should consider an Italian design house, if they still exist.

So has this physically grown in size to compete with the S class coupe?

Or is it remaining 6 series sized and just wearing an 8 badge for reasons unbeknown to anyone except BMW?

They should have kept the 6 name going, 6 coupe, cab & grancoupe, I see loads of them on the road in my area, they've basically rebadged a 6 series and will probably charge 120 k for a car that competes with a something that has no competitors?! (I don't think Bentley or Aston Martin are actual competitors, on paper they could be but to me they aren't)

What car have you got?
I've got an S class coupe
Nice!

What car have you got?
I've got a M8 bmw
Which ones that?
Oh it's the new one, 8 series.

See what I mean?

Eh no!

That's what marketing, the internet, YouTube, PH, car mags and advertising is for...

Under your premise, no manufacturer would ever launch a new model line as folk would be confused. AMG GT, which one is that.

See what I mean? wink

That is true but my point is, bmw already have a great thing going with the coupe, cab and gran coupe, m6 coupe was perfectly fine, why would they go out of there way to make a new model that indirectly replaces the 6 series with a considerably higher price tag!

The AMG GT was different, that's a limited run model that replaced the SLS, there can't be a replacement SLS with the same name can there, that would take away the exclusivity wouldn't it!
