RE: Alfa Romeo 147 GTA: PH Carpool

La bella! The Bussone is a beautiful beautiful engine.
I have never known an engine that is so free revving it is simply glorious. I pruchased 156 GTA Sportwagon just last winter and it just blows me away - learn the handling and work with it, glorious, just a special place to be.
Long live the GTA!

Wish my Guiletta sounded like that.... Guvernator said:
Interesting that you take it on track, I always wondered how one of these would do on track.
Rather well actually iirc! The Alfa Romeo press department stole a march on the other makers when they got asked to provide a 147GTA for the Autocar Hot Hatch handling day. Turned up on track biased Cup tyres rather than the standard rubberware and set fastest time

Owned mine for a month now (got a thread in the readers section). I can totally relate to the "oil tanker" turning circle! The first time I got it home I misjudged my garage opening completely Once you get going though, it's very responsive and sharp.
....Oh, and 'that' V6 engine. You can't help but stick it into second gear and taking it to 7000rpm
Had to be Alfa red for me personally

Still think about getting one of these form time to time as a toy. IMO One of the best engines ever made in one of the prettiest hatchbacks ever made. Just a shame it's a bit heavy and the handling and other bits don't quite match up to the engine and looks but I guess a lot of the problem areas can be sorted with a bit of aftermarket tuning. Interesting that you take it on track, I always wondered how one of these would do on track.
I took my entirely standard one to the Nurburgring and it was totally out of its depth but then most road cars I've had are. bobski1 said:
