In the early 90's the top end Griffith and Chimaera were over £60k in today's money..
Not quite. I purchased a new Griff 500 (full leather, metallic paint etc.) in March 1999 and paid a tad under £40k for it. According to the website I just visited in today's money that would be £48.5k Year Amount Value Today
1999 £ 40000 £ 48465.90

I didn't think you could still buy a RWD, manual, V8It also weighs over 1500kg
This is great news. IStream is a very clever system and provides the opportunity to offer different levels and materials for construction and I would guess options galore.
No doubt team Porsche will be out in force talking this news down and predicting failire.
Looking forward to seeing it.

Price inflation since 1999 is 61%, so 40k is much more than 48 in today's money. More like 65k, . You didn't look up interest rates did you?

Here's another take on it £65,300 more like it!

Quite excited about this car
Remember test driving a Sagaris when they were launched and loved it ... couldn't afford it though. If this comes close in terms of 'feeling and sounding special' it will be very exciting.
I do hope it works out for the company ... would love to be able to pick one up sometime in the next few years

I hope this has this actually got anything to do with the TVR's I knew in the old days. In my foolish youth late 70's) I had 2 x M cars which at the time were almost new. They were complete and utter rubbish, overheating, chassis fractures, crazing bodywork, exhaust grounding - drum brakes at the rear!. Lots of Triumph and Ford bits and bobs - lumps of wood in the door frames. The scariest thing? The windscreen separated from the roof at about 120 mph, bloody terrifying. - When I spoke to teh Factory they said "Yes that can happen" - British Engineering at its best ......

Having owned an S3 and then a Chimaera in the 80's/90's while they needed a bit of sorting I had huge driving pleasure with both. The S3 took me on my (first!) honeymoon down in the bay of Naples and I drove it over 800 miles in one day on the way home. It had many admiring glances in Italy, few knowing what it was I suspect. Not perfectly built but great cars, and I'm delighted to see the name returning.kambites said:

Very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with, although it'll be well beyond my means.
Do we think it's going to be big bucks? Something in my head told me this might be priced in a similar bracket to a good spec Cayman or F-Type. I could br bloody miles off, tho!Whilst I would never have been brave enough to 'buy off plan', it's a car I will take a long, hard look at the next time I change.

£65k I could just about live with. Still fairly expensive but we can't really expect it to be much cheaper in this day and age, however if it's close to 6 figures as some are suggesting, it'll be too expensive. Once again TVR were about delivering supercar thrills at a budget price, £100k is not budget.http://www.moneysorter.co.uk/calculator_inflation2...

For 400bhp/tonne in a genuinely usable coupe type package (rather than a super-light), £90k is decidedly "budget" isn't it? ETA: I suppose the closest "mainstream" competition would be something like the Mclaren 570GT which is approaching twice that price.
