I know nothing about these, but appreciate the retro boxiness. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
The engine bay shots on these always amuse me, the entire engine is forward of the front axle and right up against the front crossmember! It's no wonder they were all such nose heavy pigs to drive.Macron said:
Good to see an honest basic car sensibly priced. Great little city runabout for someone.cj2013 said:
Purely for the rarity (following on from the inspiration of the Citroen ZX talk in the VTS thread/article), I was sorely tempted to bid on this ZX Volcane.
Shed money for a solid and now rare car:

If it was black/white/3dr I probably would have bid. Popping it here in case it's on the radar of any others who love a bit of XUD9TE with the 90's Citroen styling.
Cheap cars to run, especially as you can 'train' them to drive on filtered chip fatShed money for a solid and now rare car:

I have a strangely large amount of desire for this 1996 A6. £850. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1171534

Watching... although it's around 6 hrs awayI nearly bought an Active Soarer - they used to sell for £2500 a few years ago - but was put off by the poor mpg caused by the suspension pump (plus the risk of something going wrong) Clarkson did a review (on youtube)

I had a second-hand very high mileage of one of those (well, the 100 I think it was called, but the early A6 was largely a re-badge) bought from a place in Sunderland in 1995. It was silver (achingly cool rather than ubiquitous in those days) and had a 6 CD changer in the boot that I discovered after purchase and which seemed ultra-high-spec to me. I loved it and apart from a very noisy fuel pump that I had replaced on purchase I don't think it cost me anything. It collected my first-born from hospital (not with me driving - I was on crutches, but that's a different story) and then I replaced it with the estate version which was similarly brilliant and which I eventually gave to my dad and then my brother took it when our father died. I have a real soft spot for them and this one looks very decent in an anonymous sort of way. Nice spot.

not even the same car, that looks like a Probe
And the edit makes no sense
If you look down the list you'll see the speed recorded for an Active Xantia (admittedly a V6) is 85km/h it is the fastest speed recorded !And the edit makes no sense
A Civic Type R could only manage 76 and an R8 V10 managed 83
PH really ought to add an intelligence test to register

the '99 Xantia Activa passed at 85kph.
the next fastest from that era was a Ferrari Testarossa.
you can see from the results I've lifted from that page that only now, 20 years on, are cars getting close to beating that speed.

Before anybody gets overly excited, the first line is not an exotic Swedish car but Årsmodell and Fuktig mean 'Model Year" and "Wet" (as in road conditions) respectively. It's not that often that my rather rusty Norwegian comes in handy.the '99 Xantia Activa passed at 85kph.

I've read a lot of discussion on this thread about rusty Italians, but I never thought I'd read "rusty Norwegian" Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
