I'm pretty sure the Renault espace was predated by the Nissan Prairie... I'd putt a picture but quite frankly can't bring myself to Google it... Not the prettiest car ever.
Nevertheless that in turn tools its inspiration from the little known Lancia Megagamma concept car...

The Dodge Caravan also turned up at the same time as the Espace. Whether each was aware of the other during development, I don't know?Nevertheless that in turn tools its inspiration from the little known Lancia Megagamma concept car...

I see this has sold. Did you buy it? Well I've been had. I was told it was a solid CX that just needed a starter and a few little jobs, what I actually got was a complete resto job. The seller was very careful with his pictures to hide how poor it really is. I don't mind buying a terrible car, I've run sheds that were by all means scrap. What I do mind is buying a car as a light resto project which is how it was sold to me and finding out that whilst it is likely saveable, it certainly isn't a light project. I gave him the choice that he either sends me the money I paid for recovery and the £100 deposit to cover my wasted time, or I put it on a trailer and go down to collect the £1000 + £500 for the recovery and diesel money. Apparently I should have it in my account by 9pm, it's killed any love or interest I had for the car or the project so I'm throwing it on eBay with no reserve. The Citroen owners club shed some light on it and told me the guy is a very strange one which was the feedback I got from the recovery guys too, surely someone would've bought it for what it is if he'd just advertised it clearly and properly so why sell it as a light but easily roadworthy project when it looks like this? I can't even store it on the drive because the brakes don't hold the car and the steering is near on impossible without the engine running so I now have this eyesore sat SORN without the ability to even move it. Absolutely furious and gutted about it.
Appreciate it all, a potential £1000 loss is one thing but the attitude of the seller is what really has me mad. I'm actually rather glad he lives 300 miles away so I couldn't act on any of the anger I had when it arrived. On the plus side, look how great the 405 looks next to it

Is this the same one? https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1166173
That's the one, apparently it's been for sale for almost 9 years according to someone on the owners club. A guy I sold a shed to used to be a master Citroen tech so I may look at making a start on it tomorrow depending how I feel about it after sleeping on it. Don't you need the engine running to operate the power steering, brakes and suspension on the Citroen's? Dad had a couple of BX estates, and one had a leak on the fluid that ran it all and it emptied itself pretty quickly. The recovery guy really struggled to get it on his truck to take it back to the dealership
