That Panda gave me really strong memories of playing with MASK toys. Don't know why!! It's great.

Nice and basic and a good price too. Good base for a fun little hot hatch.

I’m very glad that’s a long way from me or it might end up with a cheeky bid and being put towards a Rallye homage.

I have just realised, I have come full circle.

When I started driving, I aspired to something with power steering, electric windows, electric, leather seats, air con, turbos, mega power, in car phone (it was the eighties), etc. The most luxurious car I could afford at the time was a 1.6 L Cortina MK 4 with a scrapyard sourced interior from a Ghia stuffed in it.

Now I have a car with all of the above, (indeed these features are pretty much standard, nowadays), I yearn for a revy naturally aspirated engine with a manual box in a lightweight car with the only concessions to luxury being perhaps electric front windows and a sunroof!

There are some RHD ones of these around too, and some with a V8
They are cheap because yee-har Yank lovers don't like 'em and especially hate RHD Yank cars.

This purple Panda has achieved minor fame among the assorted journalists and vloggers and hangers-on of Car Twitter (I reckon they all read this thread). Someone has now put an offer in on it.

Love that - the interior, the nudge bar, the side mouldings, the colour, the three door body style, the flaky K-series engine.

Just quintessentially late 1990s.

It's already had the modified head gasket fitted so it should be ok. The K series isn't a bad engine once it is sorted. Although the more torquey TD4 lump works better in the Freelander.

However, my inner cynic is wondering if the reason for sale is because the head gasket blew and the new gasket was fitted but the head is warped so it is still losing water. Hence the sale only 150 miles since all that work was done.

Not "for sale" AFAICS, but this thread felt like the natural home for the place I went past today... looks like someone in Llandeilo is buying up the UK's entire supply of Mk1 MR2-shaped rust smile

Awesome.

Just the perfect seaside runabout, whether that's for the house in Sandbanks or the beach hut in Blackpool (I don't know if there are beach huts in blackpool, but whatevs biggrin).

Those Escorts were as bad as the Mondeo was good.
