I thought the D5 engine was troublesome ?
Bulletproof, hoovers up miles. Only big issues can be autoboxes if they are not regularly serviced
They are, and unlike many cars, an autobox oil change is as simple as an engine oil and filter change.

This one is manual.

The more I look at the advert, the more I want it. It is local to me as well.

All main dealer servicing from new and a brand new set of expensive continentals recently fitted suggests that it has been very well looked after.

No DPF either.

Only thing stopping me buying is I already own a V70 P3 5 cylinder. That is on 160k miles now and drives like new.

One thing I don't get about some old Volvos, including the one being discussed, is why would you want Dolby Pro-Logic in a car? You don't watch films in one, it's designed for films, not music.

It is not anything to do with movies, 5.1 etc

It will be DSP (digital sound processing) that tailors the equalisation/ time alignment to get the best out of the compromised car environment.

If I had the loot I'd be down the road for that. The one I had was a manual and it was brilliant!!

Sound system was very advanced, when the premier automotive group was formed by Ford (Lincoln, AM, Jag/LR & Volvo) They took the lead from the Volvo infotainment team. I worked on seats/interior so not sure what was special, I know they had lots of speakers, proper tweeter etc in lots of locations.

I'm not sure how I managed to miss this thread... This is pretty much my Facebook marketplace saves and eBay watched listings.

This is on my radar because it looks awesome

I think that's passed through a couple of PHers, check the £5K barges thread.

It's got PH history - post mentions potential fault(s):

tobinen's E39 has reappeared. No mention of gearbox issues, but apparently they may only really be noticeable at speed, so be warned.

It's in the £5K retro barges thread a few days back, but not as far back as Sun. 21 April 2024.

Volvos have very much become cool "in hindsight". They were never cool at the time, save the T5/R estates which were a triumph of marketing.

I always thought Saabs were cooler.
