Cars & Coffee meet:

Always lots of Americana at the Classic Car Cruise Night Reeuwijk. Here's a pumped up Chevelle SS.

This is actually the interior of a Datsun Fairlady. Almost never seen in the Lowlands.

Dunno about the white walls... Pretty car though.

Well known and frequent C&C visitor 220 straight six Heckflosse.

Jewel of a TR5 powered by the 2.5 litre OHV six with the intoxicating soundbyte.

I recently grabbed a freshly rebuild 1972 Alfa Romeo GT Veloce 2000:

Insanely pretty Verde Oliva metallizzato and beige leather interior.

Giugiaro masterpiece. He left Bertone in 1965 so this facelift is probably done by stylist Piero Stroppa.

A reminder how a clean interior looks like: no distractions!

Rik Zuurbier workshop visit:

Berlinas are a thing over here. Nice GT cars with all the period details. The 116 Alfetta is converted into a sure racing car. Maybe even with 16v heads.

Two 105-series coupe in the famous mustard yellow: one racer and one street legal 2000.

Former legendary Sam van Lingen workshop packed with 60s and 70s Alfa.

For me the late 60s and early 70s are the highlight of the Alfa Romeo Autostrada gamma. Still affordable and practical.

Sourced, stripped and maybe ready for the 2023 season. Fingers crossed.

More pics from the 5th #DauwtrappeRS C&C:

Not too shabby 2006 147 two litre on 17s was the usual underdog.

Father to son 1978 930 drew a crowd.

Pair of 997.2 GT3 RS weapons. Jonny ripped his plates off.

This 2.4 tributes the epic 73 RS of course. Very good attempt.

This 964 takes the term Low Rider to a new level.

The classic car season almost ends. Only a handful die-hards don't mind the rain and the cold.
This is from a May meet:

Rather special hot 500. Pretty wheels!

That's quite a lot of plastic there. Massive C3 is not for everyone.

Half bike, half Bug. Looks like a comfy two-seater to me.

There's a car coming with this big fella.

Ah, it's an early Firebird. Love these.

Mrs D's grandfather and uncle (both late) worked at Berkeley back then, they possibly built that very car (being the small firm it was).

Never thought of them ending up outside the UK, I'll be sure to show my FIL later!

Nice.
I only saw one ever before.
Also in NL in a 30-piece microcar collection.
They look great but could do with a tiny 4-stroke.

1991 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3 - kindly provide by Klaas Willems van PSTG Huizen:

Maybe this one is the most modern way to drive a Turbo with that old skool 930 feel. Back in the day the 964 was a major step forward in terms of progress and ride quality. Compared to the NA 911 the older 930 (G model Turbo) always offered a more comfy drive combined with a massive extra smack of torque and top end power. In 964 guise this 3.3 litre Turbo in my eye is the last with that raw edge which hints to the analog racing heritage Porsche has in its DNA. After this (964 3.6 Turbo) the cars loose their riotness character and more or less become GT cars.

This dash might look bland but trust me: compared to nowadays car cabin theatres this is what you want.

Big wing, sexy hips, understated hints of Turbo: not a big car too.

And probably the reason why Singer choose the 964 as the sweat spot for their cars?

The G model is not!

Visit to the Metropole Druten collection:

I love these little AC Aceca (1954-1963, 151 built) gems. A gorgeous looking 962 kgs sportscar powered by a 90 ps two-litre straight six.

Hard to beat 300SL Gullwing. Look at the wheels and imagine how small this car actually is. It looks big because it is grand. The collection has a handfull coupes and roadsters. Some are for sale.

You will not often see an Audi 100 Coupe. A favorite car from my youth. I recognized these as baby Aston V8s...

Plenty of pre-war cars on the first floor. This looks like a Bentley but I am hardly a specialist in this field.

And then there are the small vans that built Europe to what we are today: this trike looks like it needs to have a contemporary revamp.

Porsche 996 meetup:

The models were strictly separated wink

The non-996 section proved also very interesting... Turbo Cab.

Ah, some 996 over here...

Celebrating 60 years Alfa Romeo Giulia:

About 60 Giulia dropped on this Alfa Specialists yard.

Pretty brutal street racer part 1.

Pretty brutal street racer part 1.

A handful of GT and Spider could not resist to join.

Yellow plates are a shame but in road rallye guise a Giulia looks the part.

22-07-2022 5th #DauwtrappeRS Cars & Coffee coming to an end.

More of that mega 1978 father-to-son 930.

Not a shame to spill some extra beans.

I can't think of a car with an insane wing like this.

Oooof: 1964 W110 190Dc by Binz

Very rare find is this one of only 188 Binz Finntail babies: W110 55 ps two liter diesel boat.

Not to be mistaken for a Belgium made Universal. IMA did about 2,700 wagons and more survived. The maybe a dozen left over Finntails by Binz were tailor made specials. This one was for a USA client and has barely run 55k miles.

Details are stunning. The ride is unreal. So comfortable and relaxing.

Column shifter 4-speed, big big wheel, Maserati-like seats, patina all over: what is not to like?

Road presence is immense...

Champion racer Marcos 1800GT.

Clean racer in front of the 'old' Tachyon Motorsport building. The GT was produced between 1964 and 1972.

There's not much weight due to plywood and GRP. Engine is the reliable cast-iron Volvo 1800 B18.

With 820 kgs and 180 ps in full racing spec this is a proper drivers car.

A 3 litre V6 version showed up at the 1968 London Show. Fitted with the 140 ps Ford Essex this was only one of three options. A 3 litre Volvo and 2.5 litre Triumph straight six could also be fitted. The four pots had the better road handling.

Local Dutch car enthusiasts need to wait until after hibernation for the next Classic Car Cruise Night: 3rd Thursday in April this monthly event will start up again:

Mustangs are regular visitors of the CCCN meetings.

The Americana theme is widely represented: some look ratty but some are show stopping polished gems. Bright colors rule.

The complementary bug: they come in all sorts. Not sure if this is a Beetle for long distances. Liking this one a lot.

Mopeds!

Zundapp and Kreidler were the youth's weapon of choice in the 60s, 70s and even 80s. Twostroke boyracers are today cherished by boys with grey hair. The smell is amazing, the bikes look imaculate or are at worst very much cared for.

Drum brakes and closed chain, proper three-speed and due-seat: forced air cooling!

Close encounter with one of 188 W110 specials by Binz:

It's hard to describe how glorious this W110 Heckflosse Binz 190Dc is when standing next to it. Driving is even more surreal.

The inside is a true time capsule. Seats are incredible comfy. At 'speed' everything is forgotten. Perfect relaxation.

This is not a radio... Four speed column shifter.

Also a rare S123 300d, the first official estate by Mercedes-Benz:

And then the S123: in perfect condition

When you look for one you will find many w123 but not a wagon... Amazing car, and this one has all the options in the book.

My written review about the W110 Heckflosse Binz 190Dc & S123 300D Combi will be published next year, and with photos by a pro.

More from the Metropole collection (Druten, NL) peek:

The collection boasts all sorts of classic and special vehicles. The pre wars are unbelievable. Check this Benz. One of not too many!

A Pagaso is also a rare sight. Advanced 50s tech wrapped in fantastic shapes!

One of 60 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy Berlinetta by Pininfarina & Scaglietti.

The amount of pre war Alfa Romeo must be seen to be believed. Very much recommended to visit this stock.

BMW sidecar bike in desert war guise: Erwin Rommel!
