Sounds like someone with a 650S crapping their pants about its residuals and trying to talk the price up.

Also have to ask if they are so great why did they only sell 250 of them according to his figures?

Strange...

Great bit of tech, but like Uncle Ron, just seems to lack any soul.

I remember first seeing pictures of the 570S thinking the front end was a, well, a bit.....ugly. I saw one in real life and it looked absolutely fantastic!
I know?? I just cannot get excited about any of the McLarens?? I should, they are awesome, fast, clever, but I actually find myself struggling to even read an article about them. And trust me, I read some crap!!!!
Something is very cold about them??

Again, I suggest you take a test drive.
The Sports Series is a very different drive to the old 650S.
All the journo's rate it as a 5 star car. Chris Harris was particularly impressed I seem to remember.
570S is a bit like an Exige but with double the power and a few more goodies in the cabin.
Unless you think Lotus's are soulless too.

I guess it comes down to what you rate as soul. If it's a big noisy n/a V8 or V10 then it's not the car for you.
But if you your definition of of soul is a car that is lightweight, brimming with driver feedback, can be danced on the limit and has been designed and built by driving enthusiasts then the 570 is worth a look.

Horses for courses etc.

Looks like a Lotus by Mansory.

The Audi V10 plus convertible is a far more mature and better resolved design.

Vastly better engine and interior too.
Horses for courses again.

I like the R8 but the convertible looks very heavy and bulky.

If anything it's the R8 which feels a bit soulless. Great sounding engine but hampered by numb steering, understeer, a fidgety ride and a dull cabin poached from a saloon.
Depends on what you want from your car.

I also think the old R8 was much prettier.
