If you don't a huge amount of miles, then there really is no reason not to consider a V8. I'm lucky that I only cover around 6,000 miles a year, so the relatively poor mpg doesn't translate into a huge amount of cash. Put it this way, I'd rather do 6,000 miles a year in a V8, than do twice that in something dull.
Hello Joel, it seems our minds continue to work in a similar way james28 said:
Brutal in all the right ways. Some might feel otherwise, but I sometimes pine for a black car like this that's entirely debadged.volvos60s60 said:
This is mine, now with twin side exit exhausts, 4.4 litres of V8 loveliness
Is there anything that combines old and new in a more delightful package? Overwhelming performance that we might have wanted in a pre-War detective comics.Edited by volvos60s60 on Thursday 22 June 22:19

Saving up the funds to import one of these: I mean just listen to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtdtGgf1BF0 With the fact it handle to just seals the deal.
This car is a disruptive product in terms of price / performance. A "game changer" as some in the US would say. Despite being sold by some (but not all) dealers with a hefty markup, there's tremendous value here. As you note, the soundtrack alone is a form of live entertainment.HD Adam said:
Love a nice V8 myself. I have 3. Large capacity N/A is ok but you could do like I did with this 5.4 in my truck Much more fun
Imagine the torque. Should anybody need to rip a house from its foundation, they will now know the specialist to call. kapiteinlangzaam said:
5.0 NA V8. RWD. Manual transmission. LSD. Get 'em while you can, they'll be legislated out of existence sometime soon. Put €7k of 98ron through it in the last 12m, but worth every last penny.
The ongoing story that you've shared here -- about ordering, collecting, and modding your car -- has been great fun. Superb colour choice. And this photo brings to life the artistic lines.ironv8 said:
Worth buttons compared to some on here but an ultra reliable factory 260 brake, plus magnaflow pipes. It's fast enough and cheap to tax, insure and maintain. The noise is addictive.
You have one of the lightest full-sized coupes in this thread. Power to weight and all that. For some cars like yours, a change of final gear ratio might bring additional performance.siovey said:

Nothing beats the sound and driving characteristics of a big V8. Mine's a middling 5.7 litres

I've become convinced that the engine in my luckily acquired BMW E92 M3 is one of the best ever made. With the race exhaust, there's nothing like the feeling of taking 4.0L's of naturally aspirated V8 over 8000rpm. Every time I get the inkling to change to a turbo'd M2/3/4/5/ or 6, I do just that . . .
Agreed, after regretting selling my e92 comp pack a couple of years ago I've been lucky enough to buy it back. You just can't beat the intensity and engagement of the naturally aspirated v8. It's not the fastest car on the roads by any means but it doesn't matter one bit when you drive it. They just don't make them like that anymore. And it's got a manual gearbox so even more rewarding.

V8 here. I love the noise a V8 makes. I've been very vocal about selling this, but I am becoming more tempted to put some money into and get it back to its former glory..

I don't do the biggest mileage in the world and I don't spend mental amounts on cars. But I can honestly say that I never knew the mpg of anything I drove from 1981 when I got a licence until 2003 when I finally got a car with an OBC.
14 years on I'm still in a V8.
Life really is too short.
Great article. V8s have a character unlike any other engine.

The problem with 90% of the V8s mentioned on this thread is that they are tied to an automatic gearbox
