If Mansory or Kahn had put that bodykit on it, people would rip the st out of it.
Aston does it and you have to pay a premium for it.
What a load of bks.
Whilst I agree with your sentiments the one defense Aston could make is that it's based on a real racing car that won Le Mans.Aston does it and you have to pay a premium for it.

Mansory and Khan obviously don't have that pedigree and are purely bling merchants.
Problem is, this GT8 isn't really based on the racing car is it?
So in short - yes it's a load of b*ll*cks
Frankly some of the comments above are a bit silly. Its almost like some sort of football tribal thing. So lets have a go:
You either get Aston Martins or you don't., the history, the marque, the character and the class. Yes performance-wise a Porsche 911 might be better. But then so is a Nissan GT-R and nobody is queuing up to buy one of those, so there must be more to it.
I could buy a Lamborghini, but lets be honest, we all know, that is a poseur's car. Nobody actually uses them, they just take them out to car shows and rev the nuts off them (go on tell me I'm wrong!)
Ferrari I have some sympathy for. Lots of good history, racing pedigree etc But the modern ones are a bit ugly (for my money you need to go back to the 275 for a truly beautiful Ferrari, but that's just my opinion).
And then we have McLaren. Has anybody listened to one? Is that what a supercar is supposed to sound like? Shame on you if you answer 'yes'. And as for the 720S, please stop trying to pretend it isnt ugly. Because it is. In 10 years time nobody will be saying "oh what a beautiful car", They'll be asking whether they can update the front of their 720S to the less ugly 879S LT (insert number of choice)
How did I do?

Mmm. "...won Le Mans" is maybe a little misleading, even though it isn't strictly untrue.2014 - V8 Vantage GTE, class win (LM GTE Am, slowest class of four), 19th overall, 12% fewer laps than winner.
2008 - DBR9, class win (GT1, third slowest class of four), 13th overall, 10% fewer laps.

That, too.CanningTown said:
I got a free set of Lamborghini fitted luggage when I bought my last car. Lovely quality and it makes sense as the boot is so small. Be stupid not to accept it.
Out if interest, which Lamborghini do you* own, CanningTown? You seem to have been only around these parts for a few weeks, with a lot to say, and haven't properly introduced yourself.
So, welcome anyway.
* I don't mean your dad, your mate, or the bloke down the road.

You're wrong, because you're stating your opinion as fact.
Here's a fact... That "poseurs" car broke the lap record at the Nurburgring. But I'm sure you know that already.
Sorry mate, most of my stuff was opinionHere's a fact... That "poseurs" car broke the lap record at the Nurburgring. But I'm sure you know that already.
Lamborghini being a car for poseurs was definitely a fact.
I don't see why people are concerned about the price it's as simple if you want to/can afford to buy one then you will that's it end of.
Personally I like it I've seen one in the flesh & it's a good looking (I will add that IMO it needs to sit lower) car as for the kit it performs a function if people don't like it buy the cooking version or the new AMR cars.
A 12k mark up on a limited edition isn't a bad premium considering the price of a 991 RS, I don't have the money to buy one but if I did my money would in a different direction.
Honda RCV213V-S for around £160,000
2008 Ducati Desmosedici RR £47,000
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUCATI-DESMOSEDICI-RR-TE...
With a practical bike for everyday MV Augusta F4 RC a snip at £33,000
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MV-Agusta-F4-RC-Reparto-...
And you guys think cars are expensive

Fabulous though it is, no one is going to want one of these with number plates. There's far too many compromises for it to be a road car. Special editions are only ever going to be influenced by racing cars rather than being a direct copy. If you want a racing car buy a racing car.
True.I guess any road car would have to be very different to the racer be bearable day to day.
Not sure the GT8 justifies the mega price hike though - but most interesting cars are silly money these days.

I won't attempt to tell you you're wrong to like Astons - I even like Astons - but I wouldn't believe the GT8 racer was that close to the production car. It doesn't even look the same. Interestingly Aston only mentioned the engine, gearbox and electrics were standard, that leaves quite a lot to play with.
If you're involved in the industry or professional racing you'll know that the marketing story and reality are often quite different.
The Astons sounded great at Le Mans his year. They've got a great race team and some superb drivers but the road car range is in desperate need of replacement though. Painting a bogey green stripe down the middle of a Rapide is unlikely to make anybody want to buy it more. It just robs the car of it's dignity.
