Whens the wagon coming out!? Only one I am interested in, if its anything like the "classic" 156 wagon...wow!
AFAIK Alfa arent working on one, they dont seem interested in wagons, they'd rather sell you a stelvio.Shame really, because over here (netherlands) wagons are much more popular then saloons, they could have sold a bajilion giulietta SWs if they just bothered to make one

He cited a wagon (estate) was unlikely as the demand for the 156/159 wagon was poor and diminishing in it's final years, mirroring the reducing global demand for wagons as consumers were moving over to SUVs where demand in the medium sized sector was growing significantly - hence their engineering the Stelvio. He said it would have been easier to do a Giulia Wagon, but the demand just isn't there!
I like the giulia, but feel they missed a few details in the styling and engine departments.
I like the look overall but wish they had used an updated 3 light shark nose design a la 159/Brera
Engines seem a bit thin in the ground with a big gap between the 500hp model and the next one down. Also don't get all the engineering expense on the V6, when a detuned Ferrari v8 would have been a much bigger draw

I think the three light look has dated beyond it's age. The 156 was far prettier, and this is more a development of that.I like the look overall but wish they had used an updated 3 light shark nose design a la 159/Brera

And I suspect a mix of packaging, weight Ferrari not letting them would be the issue with the engine.
Plus, de-tune it too much and you'll be down on power compared to the V6. The California's V8 is only 550bhp.

Where did you find out this truth?
Drove them all in various versions and conditions. Actually I like the Giulia a lot, it's a sweet car to drive. This makes those little hickups even more annoying - if it were a crap car to drive it wouldn't matter whether there are issues that need rectifying. (OT: Not bashing Italian cars at all. Also drove the Abarth 124 Spider and love it. More of a real-world sporty car than those 450++ PS cars with performance far beyond what can be reasonably be utilized on public roads. Could use a bit more power, though).Ares said:
RHD Packaging. Common issue leaving us as the poor relations!
Honestly I don't understand what you guys are on about. You should count yourself lucky that you don't have to buy it with the AWD stuff. On the continent, they won't sell you one without. But what is that good for in a family saloon? The thing has so much grip there is 0 reason to lug all that kit around (at least 60kgs) in the warm months. And for the rest of the year: winter tyres. And there is that very sensibly priced ex-factory LSD option...You should count yourselves lucky really .

Just received my 180hp diesel, as needed to bear in mind MPG as the car will be used for , in the main, business use.
Only had the car for a week and lo and behold, the AA haven't been required. In the past I've had BMW Mercedes and Jaguar company cars, averaging between 35-45 k miles per year. All the others, besides the 8 series , had issues.
Overall the car so far has been superb. It's a joy to drive and although not the Veloce, is perfect for the motorway miles that I do.
Only small gripes are the average mpg seems to be around 45 and the plastics on the doors are a bit naff.
To add....it's got a red interior!

I've had my Giulia QV for a one month now and love it! I had Jags, Audi's & BMWs before and the Alfa is on a par with them in all ways other than excitement! My last car was an XKR, brilliant in many ways and if they'd continued making them I might have gone for another - but in terms of looks, fun, noise & sheer grin inducing the Giulia QV is spot on. I am a very happy Alfa owner

How quickly are you adjusting to the brakes? It's the one thing that when I had one for the weekend kept catching me out, especially once stopped but holding the car on the footbrake.such a shame - when they announced this car I was so excited - had already put it at top of my list for replacement car next year.
Only two problems
1) - Not hatchback / estate (saloons too impractical)
2) - Can't turn T/C off - so why offer a LSD - you can perform all the functionality of a LSD with T/C on with just the T/C
shame, guess it'll be another BMW then...or that Kia Stinger if it's any good when it comes out.

Hatchback would (and pretty much always do) look crap. Italians never aim to build a crap looking car. They've followed the market and gone SUV.Only two problems

Agree on the LSD, but I can't understand the seeming obsession with the ability to turn T/C off on a mid-level car.

A 540i / 550i is plenty fun without having the running costs of an M5
