I like these and have to agree with others that have said that the design has aged well, brilliant shed!

Terrible advert however, MOT, mileage, service history, general condition?

I quite like the C30/S40/V50, but the annoying thing about them is that whenever you turn the key to start the engine, you end up hitting the indicator stalk. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's positioned really awkwardly.

Nice this. is it the same diesel out of Citroen C5?? if so its quite a decent motor if service intervals are kept up religiously. The design seems quite fresh too. it looks like something much younger. at the same time its not as practical as something like a subaru legacy.
No, it's the Ford engine. IIRC, the 1.6d engine was the PSA engine.
I thought the Ford engine was based on the PSA engine. Had one in my 407; reasonably refined, pulled okay, but economy was not a strong point. It was (thankfully) relatively reliable.

The wikipedia page claims that the 2.0 16v was used in the Focus, galaxy, Mondeo, Kiga, C30, C70, S40, V50, 307, 407, 607
Could be, I thought it was developed by Ford before they started sharing engines with PSA. Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong though smile

I've done this a few times in my C30! While it's better than an old fashioned key going into the steering column IMO, they'd be better with a key inserted and then a button start, like on the newer Volvos.

And I wouldn't be surprised to find the wikipedia page to be inaccurate.

£750? That has got to be broken in some horrible way
Agreed. Cheapest in the classifieds by >£2000. All high mileage, similar ages.

Assuming its not knackered, that is a good shed, it has that classless thing going on its basically Focus based but a 55 plate Focus estate would look a bit down at heel in comparison, if that had a 2005 plate on it wouldn't look out of place.

There are 2 different 2.0 diesel engines. One is the Ford 'Puma' unit, used in the Transit, mk3 Mondeo, LR Defender, Jag X Type and PSA vans.

The other is the PSA DW10, used in the Focus, Kuga, mk4/5 Mondeo, Galaxy, S-Max, C-Max, Edge, Volvo C30/S40/V50/V60/S60/V70/C70 all PSA passenger cars

What I like about it is stick a cheap non-ageing plate on it and it wouldn't look out of place amongst much newer and more expensive machinery.
Agreed. 'Tis a design that has aged well IMO.

I was close to buying one of these 2 years ago, glad I didn't as it looks like they have depreciated much more than I thought (I ended up with an E91 320d touring).

My impressions at the time were all positive. I choose the BMW however because it had a fair bit more power, nicer chassis, and the rear passenger space was much bigger and appropriate for a rear facing child seat. The Volvo would struggle with a rear facing seat. The boot was much bigger than the Beemer though.

Both cars were virtually the same price at the time (I think the 320d was £1k more). At this price the Volvo would be the no brainer though. It is suspiciously cheap.

I'm starting to worry about SOTW. Where are all the outlandish, crazy, sub-£1k sheds?!

In September I'll need a stopgap car that's safe to carry the kids and has enough room in the back for the dog. Last week's Golf was perfect, this week's V50 spot-on . . . but they're not exactly exciting, are they?!

Come on SOTW, let's get some excitement back into the feature next week.

If that price is right and it's not hiding any horror story then that has to be a very good buy.

My V70, a wardrobe on wheels? How very dare you sir!

I'd agree on the 'classless' thing though, I think because that era of Volvos has a distinct lack of aggression to the styling, they don't seem to be trying too hard. They sort of fit in anywhere.

Hey this isn't a T5! I'm not sure if it's meant to be here...

I think if I wanted a diesel estate based on a Ford of this vintage I'd buy a Mondeo and actually have some useable space.

A quintessential modern shed. Very good.

It's always so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that shed motoring is a static field. I struggle to shift my personal mental calibration for sheds off of Sierras, Mk. 1 Golf and Vauxhall Novas; but new models fall under the threshold every day. Vive la depreciation!
Sierras, Novas and Mk1 Golfs are all "modern classics" now.

KGF Classics will happily sell you a low spec low mileage example of any of those cars for £3995 smile

Can't believe this is in shed territory... an ex-colleague had one of the first ones sold brand new from the dealership in Derby and I thought then it was a cracking looking car with a great interior (I was driving a V70 at the time so had a frame of reference)

Even today these look like a stylish car and if I was in the market for an estate I'd be all over one.

Was thinking of buying this one...! Buying a new house and would have worked nicely as a tip run car!

I wonder how borked it is at £750?
