By my sons school there lives a older lady who lives with her child, she has a garage a drive down the side of her bungalow probably for 2-3 cars plus the front has been paved over so maybe 2 more cars can park on it then theres the piece of drive between the grass that divides her house and the road, yet she parks every day on the road most of the time in the middle of two spaces as well. Its really annoying as the area has 3 schools and parking is at a premium. I spoke to a neighbour about he last year, she hates people parking outside her house.
Makes me laugh these bellends, they buy houses next to schools then moan about the traffic at drop off and pick up times and the noise at play times. Another contender for dog st under the door handles!
Or smeared around the exhaust / cat vomit

So I came home the other night, somewhere between 12 and 2 am to find this van blocking my driveway. Didn't know who it belonged to so I decided to tow it out of the way.

Earlier on I was in my garage and saw the van pull up. Spoke to the guy in it, saying 'excuse me mate do you mind not blocking my driveway in future.'
Which was then met with hostility. 'I wasn't parked there... Talk to me politely... Clearly you've got nothing better to do... Next time call the council... I Don't care... Blah blah blah'.

Clearly there was no reasoning with the guy. I don't believe I was rude to him, was I?

So I decided to call the police to see what they say. Their response was to knock on doors to find the owner and tell them to move it, if not, call the police and we will try to contact the owner. Ultimately it's the council's responsibility to deal with these matters, who will then ticket the vehicle or have it moved.

Do they really expect me to go knocking on everyone's doors in the middle of the night?

So i've called the council, who only appear to only be open until 4pm? Useless!

So i'm wondering, what are your views on this situation? What would you have done? What would you do in future?
Sit there, hand on horn until someone turns up. Yes I know it's illegal but who cares.

Then again I thought blocking an empty driveway wasn't an offence, blocking a car in was.

happened to me once. Unknown car blocked my driveway. Called council, they say call back in 24 hrs if it's still there.....in the meantime I can't get to work.

Trolley jack under rear axle and I start to roll it down the slight incline it's parked on......almost ran myself over and just managed to twist the release valve to dump the wheels back on the road.

What are peoples thoughts on parking across a garden clearly being used as a drive with no dropped kerb?

Usually council types live in such abodes so you're likely to find a brick through your windscreen when you get back.

May not be an offence, but totally inconsiderate!

Got home the other day and some tw*t had parked across my drive. From previous experience I suspected who it was. Knocked on the door and, sure enough, daughter shouts at dad, dad comes out and says "I was only going to be an hour or so" I replied that it was inconsiderate and he says "I don't need a lecture thank you very much" Like I'm the one being in the wrong by wanting to park on my drive!!
I did rather forcibly tell him if he didn't want a lecture, not to f*ckin do it then! There was a parking space 20 yards up the flaming road, just too fat and lazy to walk a little!

That really is some properly antisocial "leave it where it rolled to a halt" parking in those pictures.

Some amusing ideas, but seriously, I would love to know exactly what goes on inside the heads of people who do this?! I mean, just WTF confusedmad

It's always bad, but particularly when they block someone in. What thought process do they follow ? "Errr...car, won't be able to get out, won't know where I am, tough titty, I don't care" Or does it genuinely not occur to them that someone might need to use their car to get to work, or hospital, or whatever else ???

I don't get it, these people are so fking ignorant it defies fking belief. They are just total, unmitigated c s.

I would never ever dream of blocking someones drive, even for 5 minutes, it's just pig ignorant.

Todays 'entitled society'. "I can do what I want, f*ck everybody else". They honestly don't see a problem with causing someone else a problem! Next door neighbour is a Toyota salesman. Comes home in a different car each night, but often a nice Bright Red 2 seater, don't know which model but it looks good, even if it is a Toyota. I go out one morning for a hospital appointment and it was his day off. His nice red sports car is parked halfway across my drive. He'd moved it to let his girlfriend off his drive and just left it there!! I knock on his door for 10 minutes before he comes to the door in his boxers and tee shirt, and asks "Oh, did I block you in?" "No, I'm just doing this for the hell of it!" Prat.

Unfortunately, if you've got selfish people next door there's not much chance of a good relationship.

How council only having one driveway into your property. Surely the PH answer is to just use the rear entrance ( biglaugh ) to your property wink

I feel so lucky reading this type of thread that I'm a yokel with only one neighbour so I don't have to worry about this sort of stuff. Only time my neighbour and I end up in each others way is when he wants his trailer in/out of my yard because I block it in with my car for security.

Keep towing the vehicle. Block someone's drive with it you don't like and kill two birds with one stone. This will save you a fortune in sausages.

I have this problem a lot , I live in a double fronted house with a dropped kerb over the width of the house with some flats next door . I had a problem with a swaggering shaven headed moron who I knew and I also knew a few of his mates , he started parking his van more and more over the drive . I asked him not to , told him not to or I would put his window through and move it myself and ended up beating on his door and threatening to kick fk out of him ! That seemed to do the trick , he started bleating to his girlfriend to call the police as my wife stood between us telling me to stop . Don't bother with legalitys or daft tricks , if your capable just meet it head on , it does work !
