Well glad to see this is trickling on, more 'clever' responses by the o.p when things don't line up with your opinion.
When everything is settled then balance of manufacturer warranty and a new engine will be in place despite your best internet comebacks.
Damn jlr for not having a pistonheads account!

So...2nd hand Range Rover does a "Range Rover" and borks monumentally.
We're not talking really about a "2nd hand Range Rover" at say, 8 years old and £10K though are we? RR or not, how would you feel if you were spending the sort of sums involved and it blew the engine. Would you be so dismissive if it was your hard earned in it and at the level we're talking about here?

Land Rover offer to sort out free of charge
No. They're obliged to resolve it. Its called a "warranty". They are merely meeting their obligations. They're not doing the O/P any favours and making him an "offer".

Range Rover owner gets uppity about JLR ignoring uppity emails.
I would be narked if i thought my concerns werent being addressed. Would you not? I've escalated lesser issues to manufacturers and had them intervene.

Turns to the PH masses for advice- gets mixed opinions.
I suggest brought on by a bit of "the green eyed monster" by some people.

Range Rover owner is no better off but has vented spleen to PH masses but has admitted to being a serial JLR owner which reveals that form over function is strong in this one.
He likes RRs and has previously had positive experiences with them? Why does that make him a bad person? Whats with the "serial owner" and "is strong in this one"???

Yes but elsewhere you are known as one of the finest utter bell ringers to have ever posted and as such I'm not going to pay too much attention to you.

Hi,

I am looking for some advice before I talk to the dealer again, so the story...

Blah, Blah.......

Not sure if anyone has any advice that could help.

Thanks

Steve
Only on PH could a simple polite request for advice turn into WW3 in a couple of pages..........hehe

I think I'd be narked to be honest.

I bought a nearly new Mazda 6, had the dreaded camshaft failure . Seemed Mazda forgot to correctly harden them and they all fail between 25-35k miles. New top half of engine, turbo etc. Local mazda dealer was very unconcerned about it failing one week before the end of the warranty period for a known issue, and ir was shagged when they gave me it back after it's service and mot. It drove like it was in limp home mode when we picked it up, so it went straight back.

Also had a nissan primera that the dealer forgot to put oil in after the first service then took on a test drive and then tried to claim it was knackered when we took it in, despite signing off the full service and it having full nissan warranty.
