Perhaps he ought to sue the dealer in the small claims court. I'd take a day or two off to go & watch.
Won't take 5 minutes, in fact you won't need to go into the courtroom. You will hear the judge laughing from the waiting room.

To suggest your intention in cancelling the delay registration was to help the dealer out just shows what you really are. This is a crock and you know it.
Yes you are being insulted but you also fail to listen to a single point people are saying (2 of us at least are lawyers also). Your car has NOT been modified to the extent that it would fall under any exemption clause in your policy, why do you not accept that?
Have you gone back to the dealer with your new position? What does he say?
You are also deluded as you still refer to "when I give the car back". Can you tell the dealer that if he needs a lawyer, I won't charge him - thanks.

Why are you so concerned about " mods" and your insurance? You had a 300 bhp Seat, presumably you were insured ok on that. Can you not use the same insurance company?
As you've been told wheel colour and pattern exhaust will make zero difference to your insurance.
I've got different wheels fitted on mine, insurance not bothered.

Im not mentioning any colour - of the car or the wheels, because there's very few 350z for sale as it is. I don't know where else he advertised it and it wouldn't be hard for someone to find it and tell the dealer. I've seen how these sleuthing threads go in the past. The last thing I want is a car that I take a massive financial hit on because of pistonheads
So call directline and ask about the colour of the wheels. Let us know what they say.
How about anyone with a DL policy call and ask if respraying the wheels, or a fitting a pattern part exhaust would invalidate their insurance smile

I'm with Directline.

My rear wheels are bright red.

I didn't call them.

When did you last speak to the dealer? What's his current position? Have you mentioned to him that you want £250 to refurb the wheels?

I still call custard on the whole thing though.

Ahh yeah get it now, a 300 350z will lose against a 300 st for sure anyway. The zed is an n/a engine so will need work to wring its bhp. The st is a turbo so it will be effortless to get the power in and probably running a st ton more torque to help it along.

There is only one way to rectify this op.. Power mod the zed laugh
Assuming the 350Z is the 295hp version, according to Parkers it weights around 1534kg. Regardless, the 313hp version wasn't much quicker.

Assuming his friends Focus ST is the MK2 2.5T then Parkers suggests that it comes in at 1317kg for pre-2008 and 1392kg post-2008. If it's the later Mk3 2.0T car then Parkers suggests 1430kg-ish.

So, regardless of whatever it is, at 300hp it's still at least 100kg lighter than the 350Z, then there are the variables in fuel weight/fuel carried, driver weight. Further more there's traction to consider i.e. tyres, suspension condition, differential (LSD or not) and finally driver ability.

It was never going to go in the OP's favour so he really should have stuck with his "300hp Cupra".

You missed out drivers ability, a bit factor biggrin (See alonso)

Take some advice, stop giving the dealer a headache, running a business is hard enough work as it is. 1 in 10 people in the world don't have access to clean water, yet you're getting your knickers in a twist because your car is a fraction slower than a mates. Get a grip!!
Which grippy tyres should he get to make up for his lack of driving skills?

Also is DR Chatham still in business,
Ah apparently not - it's lovehoney these days

So you've either started a new policy on Monday in which case you'll be within the 14 day cooldown period, so have the option to cancel and only pay for the past weeks cover, and find another insurer who'll cover those "mods", or you've transferred this new car over to you original Direct Line policy, a one which you used to insure a 300bhp Seat? If so, how did they allow you to insure your Seat?

I'd hazard a guess that all it had was the boost wound up to 12... So no need to tell insurers cos they can't see it... wink

Also it wasn't just a drag race we had, we went on country roads too.
To somehow be demonstrating that the 350Z was slower than the Focus, I hate to think what sort of speeds would be involved down these "country roads". Both are going to be capable of going FAR quicker than any remotely sensible speed on anything but the widest-open best-sightlined road shared with Joe Public.

Even then, any difference would almost certainly be as much down to driver ability as to absolute car ability. Do we presume that you did a back-to-back, driving one car then the other, to rule that out? You were both insured for each other's cars, right?

BTW, you are aware that you've just admitted to MS50 and probably DD40, right...?

My advice to you OP if you really want to avoid losing your bag of sand would be to put it up for sale immediately at the price you'd like to get, then go and enjoy the car until it sells.

Or... just set fire to it and submit a fraudulent insurance claim, remember to make sure the alloys and exhaust are nicely cooked first.

Surely this is done now. He's had all the advice and abuse he needs.

I'm going to say that the dealer has seen this thread.

Just let him get on with it. Let him pay for legal advice against all that we've said here. Let him learn by trial that he's about to lose more than a grand.

Who gives a F. He can't be helped.

All the best OP. Take the £1k hit if the offer still stands and just get on with life. You've been a tool and you're paying for it. Learn.

I love how every post I make, the same old curtain twitchers and hand wringers turn up 2 seconds later to inform everyone of my previously deleted threads (deleted due to the unwarranted abuse I was getting, might I add). Ok so you might not agree with my course of action, but there's no need to call me every name under the sun.

Also it wasn't just a drag race we had, we went on country roads too. And it's not the only reason I want rid, yet everyone is clinging on to this minor detail. I already suspected that I'd find the car slow due to its N/A nature.

The thread about 'cancelling DVLA change of registered keeper' wasn't so I could force the car back into the dealers hands, it was so I could make matters easier for the dealer if the number of registered keepers stays the same.

FACTS - The car has been modified beyond OEM spec. I am not covered by my insurance in the case of an accident. All I'm asking is for the dealer to add £250 on to the repurchase price of the car now, as a 'goodwill gesture' if you will. If I kept the car, it would have cost him £250 to refurb the wheels anyway because the car wasn't as described.

I'd appreciate it if all future replies didn't involve cussing me out - I can't see how you can point at my age and my apparent lack of maturity whilst dishing out playground insults yourself. And I bet some of you are drawing your pension!
biggrin Grist to the Pistonhead mill indeed, early morning amusement while I empty my weak bladder in a Victorian OEM commode.

What an idiot.
