Why is there pickup trucks everywhere.

Ford rangers

And so forth. Ive never seen anything at all in the boot of the ones ive seen. Is it a new fashion statement?
It is what you can get in them when you need to that makes them so useful.

Just because someone can get all 3 bikes in the back of one when they go up to the trails 3 times a week doesn't mean they put the bikes in the back when going to Waitrose to stop the bloke next to them getting confused.

Residuals are high, Company car tax is low.

£28000 3.2 V6 Auto Wildtrak comes in at £55 a month BIK tax for someone on 22% rate and you can be in one for £260 a month.

So, Audi A3, BMW 116d, Ford Fiesta sort of costs.
They do a V6 now?.....
I thought the 3.2 was an inline 5 diesel?
Was I too subtle?
No, not at all, I knew what you were driving at, I was kind of replying to the comment before yours.

I took the 3.2 wildtrak from Bangkok down to Koh Samui early in the new year for a holiday.

Comfortably fit 4 adults, a dirt bike and loaded to capacity in the bed with cases for the 3 girls.

They are fantastic machines. It performs faultlessly on long journeys.

The next trip planned is a family jaunt up to Chiang Mai so I can use the bike on the trails there while the girls enjoy the city in the day time.

I got a new Navara Tekna through my LTD company at the end of last year.
They're way better on tax and Vat than company cars. Mine doesn't generally get used for lugging heavy things about, but is really handy when I need to.

It was pretty good in the snow and is comfortable on long journeys, Tekna spec gets you heated leather seats, all round cameras and a reasonable stereo. I've used it to go through tracks that I couldn't have done in my car with no issues.

I went for the roller cover instead of a hard top as it's easier to access and more flexible for carrying high things.

Downsides, well parking can be a pain as it is quite long (but the turning circle is decent), the ride can be a bit bouncy over broken surfaces and it could do with a bigger fuel tank.

Overall I really like it. It's not fast and cornering at high speed takes some trust but for my needs its fine.

Not too bad, although my frame of reference is slightly skewed as my other main mode of transport is a motorbike. The thing that always reminds you that you are driving a pickup is the slightly cramped driving position, the space between the seat and the pedals is rarely adequate if you have long legs. Yank pickups have massive cabs by the look of them.
whereas I've only spent time in yank ones, which are indeed massive! - but not necessarily that comfortable to spend time in

but then your fuel bill is double?

and presumably decent tyres must cost a fair bit?
Fuel bill?

The person buying a 3.2 Ranger is probably buying it instead of a large SUV though, but with the tax costs of a small hatch.

I just presumed it was a 6 cylinder.

I haven't really looked into it much, I was just advised it could be a good company car.

For me they just suit lifestyle, in building trade so it goes on site easily, tows a mini digger and can carry hay for horses plus seat 5 (4 in comfort). Just does everything I need, only with a roller cover though as a solid back is useless
