Cool. I’ve never heard of anyone hating a car park before. Is your hatred aimed just at that car park or Gosforth as a whole? I’ve been living here for just a few months and I’ve picked up what you mean.Courtesy of this thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
As you can see I park my little old Alfa on a big bit of pavement. Been doing it for months.
I have no other feasible option for free parking. I live in one of 6 houses very closeby (In Farnham Town center if you're wondering), all of the houses have two cars and all apart from us have a second parking space which they pay £50 a year for. They were allocated on a first come first serve basis and we lost out.
There are two big car parks very close by but I'd have to pay over £1100pa for an annual parking permit. I don't really think that's fair but I've been dealing with it by parking in the location shown.
I realise I have no right to park there and obviously understand you're not really supposed to park on a pavement but as it's such a large space and doesn't inconvenience anyone I can't think of a good reason why I shouldn't.
The issue I have is with the reason given on the ticket "parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours" There is a row of parking spaces along the road(shown in 3rd pic) which is controlled, Mon - Sat 8am-8pm Permit holders A or 2 hours no return within 1(pic 4) But that quite obviously pertains to those spaces.
What do you guys think? worth contesting on grounds that where I'm parked isn't actually restricted?
Am I actually parked In/On a street? do the double yellows have any relevance?
If the ticket (issued by Guildford borough council) said "parked on pavement" then I'd swallow that pill and pay up but I think it's an iffy reason. Strange it's taken months to get a ticket too. New warden taking a punt maybe?

That has to be joint first place with the guy recently who had a fight with security guard, rather than have to show his till receipt to prove he hadn't nicked anything. juliethotel said:

I'm sick of leaving my car in a car park (work, Tesco etc) only to come back and see a POS parked millimetres away (often at angle, overhanging the dividing line). A few weeks ago somebody damaged my car at work, presumably by opening their door into mine (large indent down to the metal).
Is there anything legal preventing me from leaving them a little surprise stuck to the windscreen/driver's window? Something similar in appearance to a parking ticket, but with my own personal message - something along the lines of "Nice parking, fkwit. Learn to fking park between the lines or hand in your licence" - which would cause great inconvenience to remove.

I wouldn’t have thought there was any legal issues no. Is there anything legal preventing me from leaving them a little surprise stuck to the windscreen/driver's window? Bloody horrendous. The two wkers videoing it could have actually stopped a lot of the damage happening. But no, a funny video for Facebook is more important. Krikkit said:

As part of a recent H&S and diversity initiative at work we have focussed on safety for our female colleagues.
One such initiative was to have a female only car park adjacent to the office. This not only ensures females can leave their cars in a non-judgemental atmosphere but means they have a short walk to their car on dark evenings.
The picture below shows how it’s going.
You really don’t like women very much do you. One such initiative was to have a female only car park adjacent to the office. This not only ensures females can leave their cars in a non-judgemental atmosphere but means they have a short walk to their car on dark evenings.
