Chap at work had a Volvo S40, he bought a plate S40 VOL or similar, deffo S40 first. Didn’t see the point either. Stuck with the car really.
Circa 50 years back I had a Fiat 1100, nice little car, but it was time to move on, and I had a Volvo Estate in mind.
The Fiat’s plate was 6 EMU, so I took a shot and wrote to the Emu wool company, asking if they’d be interested in buying the car or just the plate.
They weren’t interested, but they at least had the decency to reply and thank me for the offer.
I toyed with enquiring at one of the number plate selling companies that were always in the papers in those days, but I knew that they would offer me peanuts, and want bundles when they sold it.
So I gave my cousin’s kid a good deal on it, and he was happy.

Tsk. Should have contacted Rod Hull.

I'm always puzzled by personalised number plates which have the name of the car in them.
What's the point? We can see it's a TVR (or an X5 or an S6 or whatever).
Must admit that this has always perplexed me as well. I have a personal plate, wife's passion (dags) and her initials but bugger all to do with the car.

Why have a random collection of characters, when you could have some that relate to the vehicle. Make as much sense as having some that relate to the driver.

Well if I saw a certain Impreza with a 22B number plate, i think that'd be fairly awesome.

But then that’s stuck with the car really. Ok if you buy the same car again. But a TVR plate on a Porsche is a bit daft. If it’s the drivers initials then it’s personal to the driver. Mine is Y66, year I was born and my initials.

I have a Volvo S80, so decided to get S80 plus initials, so have S80CTG.

Looking at all the photos of the illegally parked cars and trucks they all have one thing in common.
Not one has a parking ticket on it.
Could the answer be as simple as enforcing the laws?

This is the case with most things, but the police refuse to do so.

When they do, they get Bookface grief about not concentrating on 'real crime'.
Complete with a photo of the grumpy face and crossed arms owner.

Sticks.

In my case (the black Cerbera) it's the original plate on a Tuscan I previously owned (not from new). I like it so I decided to keep the plate when I changed from the Tuscan to the Cerbera.

I'm not sure I would've gone and bought a TVR plate (possibly a plate with my initials) but as I say I like it so decided to keep it.

I think you either get personalised number plates or you don’t. Not my cup of tea, but I can understand why you would choose a tvr related plate.

If you love tvr then why not have it on the plate.
I can sort of see the point of the ones with your initials.
Surely if you love TVR you buy a TVR? No need for a special plate.

No idea what’s happening here, Audi isn’t in a space, and the Jazz has parked forward next to it. It is a coach car park but I guess due to the pandemic it’s open to cars, no sign to say so though and the normal car park next to it is empty.

More detail needed!

OK, they're on the inside of a bend, but I can't see any lines painted and they look like they are on a road - where is the "the" road where they should be?
