Typical school run, picking son up from primary, the examples next to each other and both in a very dangerous area (for the kids crossing the road)

Parked directly on the corner blocking the view for everyone:

And as soon as you get past this car, this one is even closer to the junction:
that is genuinely dreadful. Nudge the school so that they are aware of this.

I used to take my son to school by car for the first couple of years. I used to find a space and park properly and walk him to the gate. I got so fed up with the bad parking that as a sort of protest , I just stopped in the road completely blocking it. Took my son in and even stopped to chat to someone. No one even noticed! It was nothing out of the ordinary as far as most people were concerned.

Was my dashcam taking the pics wink

It happens all too often, have reported to school before they put it in their newsletter and that is it. Even had police there once - was the only day it was clear!! Also reported another car before who reversed and nearly took my child out, think that one went further as i have not seen the car since!!

Sums it up. Found on FB.

Whilst attending a school visit today, we received a 999 call to a Domestic property in Loughborough.

En route, our response was severely delayed by inconsiderate parking. Firefighters had to dismount the Appliance and guide the driver between two cars with only millimetres to spare.

Should fit bull bars to the fire tenders, sod them........

Why don't councils make one side no parking on streets that are narrow.

School will issue a letter/memo/message on the school internet/FB site which will be ignored by the parents as they want to make sure THEIR children are safe. Selfish twunts

There’s just so many people who can’t reverse properly.
Meet someone in a single track road and chances are, even if they are 5 yards past a passing space , they just look at you with a blank expression.
This happens a A LOT around where I live, comical.
Spot on. Not boasting but I went from motorcycle to HGVIII training course in a Bedford RL in the RN where you had to reverse by mirrors. (Never having driven a car). I then had a part time job on leave delivering meat to a butchers in the IOW, simple said the boss, as you drive down this one way street stop when you pass this shop, (name escapes me now), stop, get out and ask the vehicle behind you to wait as you have to pull forward and reverse into an alleyway.

Turned out I had to reverse about 200 yards down the alleyway. I always reverse park and can't understand what the problem is, it isnt rocket science. Driving test should include more reversing in my opinion.

Then again looking at the bad parking in this thread many have trouble going forward into a marked box.

Also in the RN had to reverse my 3 tonner (Bedford RL and later ML) onto a RAF Hercules on a number of occasion, and you didnt want to get that wrong.

They are but then they have the hassle of insurance, witness reports, the driver having to justify it etc etc.

Why are fire engines called appliances?

They're slightly different. A fire engine is purely to fight fires. It's the main pump. An appliance is like an all rounder with tools etc.

What would you do if you knew what the reg was?

Whos worried? not me.

If this is a genuine incident and photographed in a public place where the reg plates are already
on display to all and sundry ,then i just dont get why anyone would feel it nessacery to take
the time to obscure the reg plates before posting the photo on a public forum

the solution to this is invest in loadsof parking cctv cars to drive round near schools at drop off and pick up time and just fine the selfish s back into the stone age. when it hits thier pockets, the driving and parking standards will suddenly go up. ones parking dangerously give them 3 points. if they dont learn they will either have no license or no money for a car so the little sts will have to walk -which would be no bad thing.

us style nudge bars but full width around front of cab and just plough through. needs a law revision to guaruntee no liability to the fire service when used right.

I think parking offences should carry points as well as fines. However, that assumes that there is any enforcement. In my town , there is a traffic warden about once a month. Nearly everyone knows when they are there and shopkeepers helpfully tell anyone who doesn’t.
The rest of the time it’s park where you like, double yellows, corners , even block the entrance to the car park.
